Team India steamrolled Afghanistan bowlers throughout the opening session of their one-off Test in New Chandigarh. Winning the toss and opting to bat first, prolific opener KL Rahul and number three Sai Sudharsan both notched up elegant half-centuries after the early dismissal of Yashasvi Jaiswal.
It is worth noting that it was India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir who had backed Sudharsan to bat at number three prior to the match. The cricketer-turned-coach also vowed to give Gujarat Titans opener a longer run in the Indian Test team.
While Gambhir’s decisions paid immediate dividends in the middle, the head coach himself sparked curiosity in the dressing room after cameras caught him consuming a mysterious product on Day 1. Although the substance appeared to be some homeopathic medicines, social media users were quick to amplify the footage and fuel needless speculation online.
