Rupa was found delivering the gratitude to Stephen for serving the team for so long. "Stephen Fleming has been the heartbeat of our coaching unit for almost the entire journey of this franchise. For nearly two decades, he has helped shape our identity, vision, and pursuit of excellence,” Rupa was quoted in a CSK press release.
"On behalf of everyone at the Super Kings franchise, we extend our deepest gratitude for his unwavering commitment, passion, and leadership. While our journey together on the field comes to a close, he will always remain an integral part of the team's legacy," the official statement from CSK added.
The golden years of Chennai Super Kings under Fleming
Under Stephen Fleming, Chennai Super Kings enjoyed one of the most successful eras that any IPL franchise has ever witnessed.
Beginning his journey in 2009, Fleming worked alongside MS Dhoni to guide the franchise to IPL titles in 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021, and 2023, helping Chennai Super Kings become the joint-most successful team in IPL history alongside the Mumbai Indians.
Apart from their IPL triumphs, Chennai Super Kings also won the Champions League T20 titles in 2010 and 2014, defeating the Kolkata Knight Riders in the latter final. As a result, CSK won a total of seven major trophies under Fleming's supervision.
Fleming's coaching CV
Fleming's coaching career extends well beyond Chennai Super Kings. He has also overseen the Joburg Super Kings in SA20 and the Texas Super Kings in Major League Cricket.
