Australia suffered a humiliating collapse against Bangladesh [Source: X and Screengrab]
Australia vs Bangladesh's 2nd ODI at the Shere Bangla National Stadium on June 11 didn't go as planned for the visitors. Australia suffered a massive collapse, likely one of the rarest for them, especially against a team like Bangladesh.
With three wickets falling without even scoring a single run, Australia suffered humiliation at the hands of Bangladesh and recorded the most consecutive ODI innings with a zero-run opening partnership, with this happening four times as Australia failed to score any runs and lost multiple wickets.
The Australia Humiliation In 2nd ODI At Dhaka
As Australia chose to bat first in Dhaka, openers Matthew Short and Cooper Connolly were dismissed by Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman in the first two overs, leaving Australia struggling at zero.

Matt Renshaw, who came in after Connolly, also went out for a duck after facing five deliveries, with Mustafizur Rahman again scalping his wicket. This left Australia struggling at 0 and losing three wickets after the end of two overs.

The Struggle Of Australia In ODIs In 2026
The Australians aren't having it this year in ODIs. The top run-scorer so far in the format has been Josh Inglis, who has played five ODIs for Australia and managed to score only 159 runs at an average of 39.75.
Batters like Alex Carey and Matthew Short have struggled, averaging 23.25 and 14 respectively. Marnus Labuschagne has had one of the worst runs of form, with only 25 runs from his five outings at an average of 6.25.
These horrible outings are now tarnishing Australia's name as one of the fearsome teams in the world against a team like Bangladesh.
The internet didn’t miss this opportunity to bash the Kangaroos for their poor outing and trolled them for the showing.
Let’s take a look at how the internet reacted to the Australia collapse vs Bangladesh:
Bangladesh Domination Affecting Australia?
As Bangladesh dominated in the second ODI after their first ODI win, there will be scrutiny on Australia's form since they also struggled to chase down a target of 285 runs in the first ODI. Hence, the batting is significantly weak, with not many experienced veterans in Australia's side.
The massive collapse left Australia with only 25 runs from seven overs in the second ODI, with skipper Josh Inglis and Alex Carey trying to save face against a furious Bangladesh pace attack featuring Taskin Ahmed, and Mustafizur Rahman.
Worrisome Form Ahead Of 2027 World Cup
Nevertheless, chances of salvaging their pride will still be there for Australia. They will play a third ODI against Bangladesh on June 14, followed by a three-match T20I series against the same hosts and then a two-match Test series running till August 22.
After completing the Bangladesh tour, Australia will engage in a three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe starting on September 15, all of which lies in accordance with their preparation for the upcoming 2027 World Cup.
However, if their form continues like this, Australia will have serious things to worry about. Nevertheless, the absence of senior veterans from the Australian squad might be another factor behind the mammoth collapse they are currently experiencing.
