Fans Mock Mohsin Naqvi As PCB Invites Fielding Coach Through Social Media

After the recent overhaul of the Pakistan cricket team with Mike Hesson replacing Sarfaraz Ahmed as the Test coach, the PCB have now chipped in with a jarring move on a public forum.

Apparently, the cricket board have officially posted a job posting advertisement on LinkedIn, a job platform to seek candidates for their new fielding coach. 

The internet shared hilarious opinions on this development after the ad was posted on August 31 on the job finding social media platform.

Pakistan Cricket Board announce opportunity in red-ball and white-ball cricket coaching

After Shane McDermott resigned from the fielding coach role of Pakistan in July 2026, the role has been vacant with temporary inclusions being made till now. McDermott served in the position for roughly a year before stepping down without any official explanation ever given out by the individual or the PCB itself.

Now, the PCB is actively searching for a suitable candidate with the deadline for application being September 9, 5:00 PM IST.

“The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is seeking an experienced and skilled Fielding Coach to join the Pakistan Men's National Cricket Team. The Fielding Coach will play a crucial role in developing and enhancing the Fielding skills of Pakistan National Team Players,” the post read.

The required criteria included having a minimum Level II Cricket Coaching Accreditation and at least 5 years of working experience in a similar cricketing role with elite cricketers/national/franchise.

Internet trolls Pakistan’s advertisement for fielding coach role

While LinkedIn is usually a platform where multiple companies and MNCs search for candidates for their workforce, PCB’s latest invasion of the forum appears to be a surprise. 

Most of the recruitment of individual cricket boards is usually done in a more discreet manner through official protocols or on websites. Pakistan’s step seemed like they were more eager to find merit-based individuals rather than big names to rely on.

The internet, too, roasted this advertisement from the board while picking up hilarious expressions:

"Why are you posting this here? Just directly call some retired military or army personnel for the job," - Aamir A. Rehman, a LinkedIn user commented under the post of PCB.

"PCB is hiring a fielding coach through LinkedIn 😭 I’m crying, man. They keep providing us with free entertainment. At this point, the only reason international cricket is still alive is because of them. Long live Pakistan cricket!"- @OnlyyRndom

Pakistan looking for a permanent solution ahead of Asian Games 2026 

McDermott’s resignation from his role ahead of the Asian Games 2026 seems like a fair trouble for the Men in Green who have been depending on an interim coach since July 2026. The standards for Pakistan cricket in fielding have always been a point of discussion from a negative angle, with loads of areas to work on. 

Now, PCB’s step towards LinkedIn calls for a more permanent approach that seeks transparency and permanency of role to better shape up the athletes, be it physically or through mental rigidity on the field. 

Currently, Mansoor Amjad is the fielding coach of the team, who was named as a cover for McDermott for the England tour and the subsequent West Indies tour. 

It remains to be seen whether Amjad will continue in the same capacity or will be replaced by a new face in the setup ahead of the Asian Games 2026.
