Cameron Green, the INR 25.20 crore all-rounder, messed up his powerplay over big time during the IPL 2026 clash between KKR and RR. The expensive spell led to a social media storm.
Rajasthan Royals batted first at the Eden Gardens and had an explosive start. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal stitched an 81-run partnership, and RR got to 100 runs in 11 overs.
Cameron Green gets trolled for an expensive over
For the final over of the powerplay, KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane made an unconventional choice and handed over the ball to Cameron Green, a decision he would regret in hindsight.
Greenâs over was absolute chaos, as he conceded 22 runs, including 4 extra wides, which turned it into effectively a 10-ball over.
The all-rounder kept going too wide outside off, especially to a left-hander like Yashasvi Jaiswal, which resulted in extra wides.
Moreover, the extra wides led to unnecessary pressure on the bowler, and the batters used it to their advantage to score easy boundaries. While Sooryavanshi got that slot ball for six, Jaiswal got a full toss to lap for four.
That being said, the 10-ball over completely shifted the momentum into Rajasthan Royalsâ favour, and KKR fans werenât happy about it. They lashed out at Cameron Green on social media and trolled him for his consistent failures despite bagging such a hefty contract.

Cameron Green is still adjusting to bowling
At the beginning of the IPL 2026 season, Cameron Green wasnât bowling at all as Cricket Australia had put restrictions on him to manage his workload.
Green has chronic back-related issues, and hence, CA didnât want to risk his fitness with a big summer season coming up.
However, after the initial two weeks, Green was finally allowed to bowl for KKR. But his rhythm is still off. On a hot day in Kolkata, he faced fatigue issues, and his control was all over the place.
Hence, it's safe to say that Cameron Green, as an all-rounder, is not working for KKR anymore. He is not doing justice to his price tag, and these constant criticisms will only add to his woes going forward.
RR in firm control vs KKR
Meanwhile, coming back to the game, Rajasthan Royals are ahead of KKR with 113/3 on the board at the end of the first 14 overs. RR had a strong start with a 63-run powerplay.

However, KKR won the middle-over round as they choked up the run-rate. Varun Chakaravarthy bowled a fantastic spell of 3 overs, where he picked up 2 wickets and conceded just 9 runs.
From 81/0, RR collapsed to 99/3. Regardless, with the death overs still remaining, Rajasthan are expected to make a comeback and finish on a high. For KKR, the key will be to ensure the fast bowlers are rotated wisely.
