Delhi Capitals - (Source: AFP)
On Monday, April 27, it is revenge week, and the Delhi Capitals will lock horns with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2026 match 39. It will be the second time this season that these two teams will lock horns.
In their previous encounter, David Miller stole the show when he whacked Romario Shepherd in the last over of the game to seal a win for the Capitals at Chinnaswamy Stadium. However, a lot has changed since that game. RCB got back to winning ways, registering a win over the Gujarat Titans. Meanwhile, DC have lost two matches in a row.
DC vs RCB Preview
For RCB, they too have a few selection headache. Rasikh Salam got injured in the previous match, and now there is a question over Phil Salt’s availability, who missed the last match because of injury. So it is to be seen whether the England opener can return to the playing XI.
Delhi Capitals are likely to make a lot of changes in the bowling department. Firstly, Lungi Ngidi is unlikely to play against RCB because of the nasty injury he suffered against the Punjab Kings. Notably, Ngidi was taken off the field on an ambulance and at present, he is stable and discharged from the hospital.
Further, Mitchell Starc is also not available for selection for the Delhi Capitals. Therefore, this article will shed light on DC’s strongest playing XI vs RCB.
DC Likely Playing XI vs RCB- Match 39
Openers and Top Order (KL Rahul, Pathum Nissanka, Nitish Rana)
In the opening slot, the Delhi Capitals are unlikely to make any changes. There is only question on Pathum Nissanka’s place as the Sri Lanka opener has amassed just 147 runs in 7 innings, averaging 21. Therefore, DC expect more of him, but the star player is expected to play against RCB.
Further, KL Rahul and Nitish Rana scripted history against the Punjab Kings when they stitched a 220-run partnership, the second-highest for any wicket in the history of the league.
Middle Order and All Rounders (Sameer Rizvi, David Miller, Tristan Stubbs, Axar Patel)
In the middle-order, they don’t need any changes because they were not asked to bat in the previous match against the Punjab Kings. Therefore, Sameer Rizvi, David Miller, Tristan Stubbs, and Axar Patel will continue to headline the middle-order.

The interesting thing here is that DC have a middle-order full of floaters. Therefore, the batting position is not decided yet, which has actually gone in the Capitals’ favour.
Bowlers (Dushmantha Chameera, Kuldeep Yadav, T Natarajan, Mukesh Kumar)
In the bowling, Delhi Capitals will be forced to make one change, which is to replace Lungi Ngidi with Dushmantha Chameera. Notably, DC were not allowed to bring in Chameera in the last match, but he will certainly be in the line-up against RCB.
Further, Mitchell Starc has also joined the group, but he will be available for selection from May 1. Therefore, the left-arm seamer will not play against RCB.
Rest, Kuldeep Yadav, T Natarajan and Mukesh Kumar will lead the bowling attack.
