Ireland won the 1st T20I vs India [Source: Cricket Ireland/X]
Ireland will be looking to create history when they face India in the second and final T20I of the series on June 28, 2026. This game will also be played at the Stormont Cricket Ground in Belfast. Ireland are on the verge of an iconic T20I series win over India.
Ireland, despite missing key players like Paul Stirling, Mark Adair and Curtis Camphor, defeated India in the first T20I on June 26 by 34 runs.
This was Ireland’s first-ever international match win over India in any format. And now Ireland will like to go one more step further and win the second T20I as well and give India their first whitewash in T20Is by the Irish team.
India vs. Ireland second T20I preview
The heroes of Ireland’s win were captain Lorcan Tucker, Gareth Delaney, Jai Moondra, Matthew Humphreys, and Matt Hollard, who was named the Player of the Match as well.
Tucker made 50 runs, and Delaney struck 49 as they took the India bowler to the cleaners in the death overs. However, there are chances that Tucker would want to change Ireland’s top order, as they failed against India.
India weren’t able to cope with the Ireland pacers’ accuracy and lost wickets to audacious shots, resulting in an embarrassing loss and an inauspicious start to Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy tenure. However, India will be looking to show why they are the three-time T20 World Cup champions and win this game to level the series.
Ireland's Likely Playing XI vs. India- 2nd T20I
Openers and Top Order - Ross Adair, Tim Tector, Harry Tector
The top order of the Ireland team faltered in the absence of the experienced Paul Stirling. Ross Adair managed only 12 runs, while brothers- Tim Tector and Harry Tector were dismissed cheaply for 17 and 0, respectively.
The failure of their top order was the reason why Ireland had a shaky start to their innings in the first T20I vs India.

Although one would argue that captain Lorcan Tucker might make a few changes in the top order, since this is only a two-match T20I series, it's more likely that Ireland will persist with their winning combination.
Middle Order and All-Rounders- Lorcan Tucker, Gareth Delany, George Dockrell, Ben Calitz, and Liam McCarthy
Lorcan Tucker and Gareth Delany will lead the Ireland middle-order along with George Dockrell, Ben Calitz, and Liam McCarthy for company.
Tucker had led from the front on his Ireland captaincy debut and scored a well-constructed half-century. He got support from Gareth Delany, who made 49.
Delany had pushed Ireland’s score to 180-plus as he took Prasidh Krishna for 27 runs with 3 sixes in the 17th over. Ben Calitz (15) and George Dockrell (19) got starts but couldn’t continue as Ireland looked good for a score of 200.
Bowlers - Matthew Humphreys, Jai Moondra, Matthew Holland
Matthew Humphreys showed great experience as he cleared the Indian trail that threatened to break Ireland’s dream win.
He finished with three wickets to his name. However, the most impressive players were the debutant duo of Jai Moondra and Matthew Hollard.
Moondra took 2/25, including a wicket on his first ball in T20I cricket, castling Sanju Samson. Expect Moondra to continue doing good work for the Irish team.
Hollard looked extremely confident in his first T20I game for Ireland. He accounted for big wickets like Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer, and Washington Sundar as India crumbled in their chase of 183 runs.
