Phil Salt, IPL 2026 (Source: AFP)The IPL 2016 winners, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), will host the defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their final league-stage match in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League tonight, May 22, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Both SRH and RCB sit safely in the points table, securing spots in the IPL 2026 playoffs. With nothing to lose, the teams go all out to finish at the top of the table by the end of the league. RCB currently sit atop the points table with 18 points and the best net run rate (NRR) of 1.065 among the 10 teams. A victory today would guarantee them a first-place finish and two opportunities to reach the final.Sunrisers Hyderabad, meanwhile, are placed third with 16 points from 13 matches, level with Gujarat Titans but behind on NRR. SRH have an NRR of 0.350 compared to GT's 0.400, and their best chance of breaking into the top two would be to beat RCB convincingly and hope Chennai Super Kings defeat GT.Thus, with the tournament almost at the business end, RCB, hoping to defend the title, would want all their match winners fully fit and match-ready.
