Shubman Gill seems to be at his imperious best on the field against the CSK in match number 66 of the IPL 2026 season. Shortly after pulling off a sensational run out to get rid of Kartik Sharma, the Gujarat Titans skipper held on to a stunner at midwicket to dismiss a well-set Shivam Dube.
On top of it all, Shubman also shaped a regal 64 from 37 balls against the CSK bowlers earlier in the game as the Titans mounted 229-4 in 20 overs.
Interestingly, after the catch he took off Rashid Khan to dismiss Shivam Dube, the Titans captain gave a fiery send-off to the outbound CSK batter

During the 11th over of the CSK innings, a raging Shivam Dube slapped Rashid Khan towards his off side in a bid to keep up with the asking rate. The all-rounder ended up mistiming the ball, prompting an agile Shubman Gill to run back and snare a sensational ‘Glenn Phillips-esque catch’.

Mere moments after completing the catch, Gill also ‘hushed’ the Narendra Modi Stadium crowd to give a fiery send-off to the well-set CSK batter.

Gill pulls off a run out to remember
Just a few overs earlier in the innings, Shubman Gill also ran out CSK’s number five batter Kartik Sharma with an exceptional direct hit. Stationed at mid-off, the cricketer charged in and fired the ball towards the non-striker’s end.
With the ball hitting the stumps at the time when the edge of Kartik’s bat was found just hovering over the crease, the middle-order batter was forced to take a long way back to the dugout.

Gill’s Gujarat Titans knock out CSK from playoffs race
Apart from losing the toss, Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill did not put a foot wrong in the high-octane match 66 of the IPL 2026 season against the CSK.
Batting first, Gill slapped 64 runs from 37 balls with seven boundaries and three sixes. The elegant opener forged an electrifying 125-run opening partnership in just 12.2 overs with fellow half-centurion Sai Sudharsan (84 off 53).

Jos Buttler at number three also blasted 57* off just 27 balls with five boundaries and four huge sixes as the Titans mounted 229-4 in 20 overs.
In response, devastating opening spells from Mohammed Siraj (3-26) and Kagiso Rabada rendered CSK to 63-5 at one stage of their run chase. Ruturaj Gaikwad and co. eventually bundled out for 140 in 13.4 overs after Shivam Dube’s cracking 17-ball 47.
For the Titans, fast bowlers Siraj, Rabada (3-32) and experienced spinner Rashid Khan (3-18) all picked up three wickets each as the hosts walked away with a huge 89-run win.
The outcome also crashed CSK out of the IPL 2026 playoffs race, as they remain stranded with just 12 points from 14 matches.
