Quinton de Kock misses MI vs SRH [Source: AP]
In a shocking development around the struggling Mumbai Indians camp, just weeks after becoming their first centurion of IPL 2026, Quinton de Kock is set to miss the high-voltage clash against the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Having only won two of their first 7 matches of the season, the five-time champions host the in-form SRH juggernaut, who are four games unbeaten at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday night.
As they look to return to the winning momentum, the MI camp is already laden with injuries to starting players, like Rohit Sharma and Mitchell Santner. The latter was also replaced by Keshav Maharaj in the squad for the remainder of the season, before the South African wicketkeeper bat, Quinton de Kock has also found himself out of the XI.
Why is Quinton de Kock not playing MI vs SRH, IPL 2026, Match 42?
Following a torrid start to the season, Rohit Sharma got off the field, retired out against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 12 with a hamstring injury. Quinton de Kock came in as a replacement and instantly got off to a flier, with a century against the Punjab Kings in the next match.
However, just three games in, adding his name to the unfortunate list of injured players, Quinton de Kock sustained a wrist injury on the match day against SRH. The news was revealed by Hardik Pandya at the toss upon putting SRH to field first.
So far in 3 matches played, de Kock has scored 132 runs in three innings, striking at 162.96 with the best score of 112* off 60 with 8 fours and 7 sixes against PBKS.

Ryan Rickleton returns to XI in MI's pursuit of winning form
Ryan Rickleton started IPL 2026 ahead of de Kock despite both being available for the opening match against the Kolkata Knight Riders on March 29. Notably, he also justified his selection over the former IPL winner with MI, scoring 81 off 43 with 8 sixes and four fours against KKR.
However, upon Rohit Sharma's injury ruling him out of a few matches, and MI roping in two overseas spinners in the line-up, Rickleton lost his place in the team after playing 5 matches. Now, courtesy of de Kock's wrist injury, Rickleton has returned to the XI, having scored 137 runs in 5 innings so far.
Will Jacks' return bolster the struggling MI squad
The English star performer at the T20 World Cup 2026, Will Jacks, has finally arrived in India after asking for an extended time off with his family due to a heavy workload over the past few months. When he was last in India, the batting all-rounder racked up a whopping four POTM during the T20 World Cup.
He had scored 226 runs in 8 innings, averaging 56.50 at a strike rate of 176.56, alongside 9 wickets with his off-spin in England's run to the final. Now, he replaces Sherfane Rutherford among the few changes made by MI and is opening the batting with Rickleton.
The other changes in the playing XI include Trent Boult in for the injured Mitchell Santner and Robin Minz in for Danish Malewar, who failed to capitalise on his opportunities in his debut season.
