The Kolkata Knight Riders vs the Rajasthan Royals clash on April 19 took an unexpected turn when Rinku Singh held his nerve to lead the team’s win with 12 runs required from the last over.

However, the heartbreak for RR fans was no more than that of the 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who was seen disappointed and crying in a corner after the KKR clash.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, an emerging prospect of the RR franchise, scored a valiant 28-ball 46 while opening with Yashasvi Jaiswal; however, as he found himself, his efforts were not enough for the team as KKR bowlers Kartik Tyagi and Varun Chakaravarthy ran riot through the Royals’ middle order.

It is a pretty common visual in this IPL 2026, where Vaibhav was found cursing and visibly disappointed with himself as he walked back towards the pavilion after his dismissal in almost every match.

Although his scores read like 52, 78, 46 and 39, far from disappointing, Sooryavanshi’s remorse has been one of the reasons why the internet praises the young boy. A camera sneaked from behind to record the visuals. As Sooryavanshi was trying to hide his face with his cap while crying, a KKR staff member came towards him to console him.

As is apparent from the video, the staff member might have been a known acquaintance of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi who consoled him, sat beside him, shared a brief chat, and then hugged him.

The video further shared the simplicity of the Bihar boy who has now been toppling records both at the international and domestic levels.

Sooryavanshi’s IPL 2026 So Far

Vaibhav’s IPL season has been a dreamlike fairytale so far. With his ‘set from the dressing room’ mindset on the field and constant hammering of bowlers, Sooryavanshi have managed to maintain his strike rate at 236.54 while averaging at an impressive 41.00.

Except for a rare duck against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s form cannot be questioned as he is also the highest run scorer for the franchise with 246 runs under his belt, followed by Yashasvi Jaiswal with 223 runs.

In the Orange Cap race, he is currently in the 4th position with Heinrich Klaasen currently having the prestige with 283 runs from 6 matches while maintaining an average of 47.16.
