The India team had a blast with the warm-up fixture against South Africa on February 4, when they faced South Africa ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026. However, the same thing can’t be said for Arshdeep Singh, especially after his post-match interaction with teammate Tilak Varma.
The Indian pace bowler confronted Tilak while making a fun reel on his Instagram. However, the video soon took a serious turn when Tilak retorted to Arshdeep Singh, even though the duo share a close bond with each other in the dressing room.
Arshdeep Singh makes non-consensual video after India’s win
India gave a statement with the bat as the Playing XI that featured Ishan Kishan, Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav and Axar Patel showed power with the bat. India posted a mammoth 240 at the DY Patil Sports Academy that sets the tone for what is about to come.
South Africa gave a solid fightback with the bat, where Tristan Stubbs top-scored with his 45 but failed to guide the team home with 30 runs appearing the margin by which India won the clash. Nevertheless, after the match, trademark Arshdeep Singh reel was out in action.
In the dressing room, where players were relaxing and having their dinner after the match, Arshdeep Singh pulled out his mobile phone to shoot a candid video of the ambience.

The video showed Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma sitting with their dinner plates and scrolling on their mobile devices. As Arshdeep started recording, he began reciting a Hindi shayari, which made Ishan Kishan laugh instantly. However, Tilak, who appeared serious and focused on his phone, did not take the video-making lightly.
After Arshdeep tried to make Tilak laugh with his shayari, saying, “Tilak ko utna dekh nahi sakti yaar, bura dikhta hai,” Tilak seemed visibly upset. Ishan Kishan was then seen trying to pacify Tilak, explaining that Arshdeep was making a video and asking if Tilak could wave at the camera. Tilak, however, replied in frustration,
“Bina permission aise videos mat le. Main promote nahi karta aisa.”
Tilak was then seen ignoring the camera and focusing on his food. However, the banter continued, with Arshdeep attempting to instigate Tilak through comical reactions. It appeared that Tilak was irritated by the situation and did not appreciate what he felt was an invasion of his privacy.
Did Arshdeep and Tilak really fight?
Although it appeared that Arshdeep's reel did not go as planned, it is well known that the young India pacer often sets the tone in the dressing room with his vibrant mood. Arshdeep and Tilak Varma also share a very close bond with each other.
Notably, the incident took place just a few hours before Arshdeep turned 27 on February 5, which suggests that Tilak’s frustrated reaction may itself have been a prank aimed at the bowler. The duo share a friendly relationship, often pulling jokes on each other and engaging in banter and light-hearted arguments.
Hence, the video was simply a moment of dressing-room banter and not an indication of Tilak Varma seriously contemplating a fight with his friend. It is worth noting that Arshdeep Singh is celebrating his birthday today. The Indian pacer turns 27 today.
