Lucknow Super Giants and Sunrisers Hyderabad haven’t been bone-crushing rivals in the history of IPL, yet a competitive fierceness between the two teams has emerged in recent times. Watering down that fire, a recent picture of LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka and SRH co-owner Kavya Maran did the rounds on social media.
While both Sanjiv Goenka and Kavya Maran are public figures and business enthusiasts, given their high-profile investments in their respective IPL franchises, interaction between the two was rare, and a picture between the owners is also something that occurs once in a blue moon in this tournament.
Why Goenka And Maran’s Picture Went Viral On The Internet?
Recently, a picture of both the owners, Goenka and Maran, went viral on the internet, where the duo was seen all smiles, posing for the camera. While a rare sight, the image quickly went viral given the LSG owner’s reputation and the SRH owner’s intense passion for her team, where she rarely misses a live match.
While the internet was in a meltdown over whether the image was AI-generated or not, the picture looked original, with the business tycoons spreading positivity in the image.

Did Kavya Maran Click A Picture With Sanjiv Goenka?
Even though it was not an unpleasant surprise, the image that circulated online was actually authentic. Lucknow Super Giants, on their official social media handle, posted an image of Goenka alongside Kavya posing mid-innings in the break room, where the two owners met and casually chatted.
The caption of the post read, "All smiles in Hyderabad. Our owner Dr. Sanjiv Goenka met SRH owner Maran as the teams take on each other in an enthralling clash." The post garnered 19.3K likes on Instagram, along with 108 comments, celebrating the moment.
While it is to be noted that Kavya Maran's presence at Uppal, Hyderabad's home ground, didn’t help much, as they lost the game with Rishabh Pant’s brilliance taking over.
SRH Gets Disastrous Start Against LSG
Coming in to bat first, Sunrisers Hyderabad suffered a disastrous start, with Mitchell Ware, Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, and Ishan Kishan all dismissed within the first four overs, with Sharma falling for a duck.
Liam Livingstone also departed in the eighth over, leaving Sunrisers Hyderabad struggling at 26 for four.
It was only the 63-ball, 116-run partnership between Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy that helped Hyderabad recover to a total of 156. In response, Lucknow Super Giants had a decent start, reaching 77 runs at the end of 9.2 overs.
However, soon after, SRH bowlers applied the brakes, as Ayush Badoni and Nicholas Pooran struggled at the crease.
Rishabh Pant Leads LSG’s Win At Uppal
It was the steady hands of captain Rishabh Pant, who scored 68 off 50 balls, that guided the team to victory. The final over turned out to be a thrilling one, with 9 runs required.
Pant hit two consecutive boundaries off the first two balls, easing the pressure, and calmly led his team to a memorable win. Lucknow Super Giants won by five wickets with a ball to spare, registering their first victory of IPL 2026.
While the match went in Sanjiv Goenka’s favour, Kavya Maran’s Sunrisers Hyderabad will need to rethink their strategy after the IPL match, particularly their loose bowling in the powerplay and middle overs.
