In a funny incident, RR wicket-keeper Dhruv Jurel cheekily trolled Babar Azam by recreating the latter’s infamous ‘warm-up routine.’ Jurel was joined by a fellow teammate from South Africa as well.

Rajasthan Royals are gearing up for their opening IPL 2026 clash against CSK, which is scheduled for March 30. The match will be held at Guwahati, where RR will be led by Riyan Parag, their new full-time captain.

Dhruv Jurel takes a shot at Babar Azam during training

Before the big game, the Rajasthan Royals took part in a gruelling training session. However, wicket-keeper Dhruv Jurel added his fun element to troll Pakistan cricketer Babar Azam.

During the warm-up session, Jurel initiated Babar’s infamous warm-up steps, which went viral due to their awkward and funny execution.

Dhruv Jurel, along with Lhuan-dre Pretorius, imitated those same moves to poke fun at the Pakistani players.

RR’s social media account, meanwhile, picked up this mischief and uploaded the video on social media.

Interestingly, before the cricketers, a lot of influencers and meme pages have poked fun at Babar Azam for his unusual drill. During the T20 World Cup, Indian creator Beyounick recreated the exercise mockingly in front of Pakistani fans in the stadium.

Dhruv Jurel is coming off a strong domestic season

Meanwhile, Dhruv Jurel had been struggling in international cricket for a while now. In 2025, he scored just 257 runs in 9 Test innings. However, the wicket-keeper worked hard behind the scenes to get his form back.

In recent domestic seasons, he scored 6 half-centuries and 2 centuries. Playing for UP, Jurel made impactful and match-winning contributions to put himself back on the line for a national comeback.

That being said, the IPL 2026 season is a big opportunity for Dhruv Jurel to prove his worth again. This tournament will determine how long Jurel’s international career will last in the near future.

A new era awaits the Rajasthan Royals

Meanwhile, this IPL 2026 season is also crucial for the Rajasthan Royals, as they are marking a new era under the youth leadership of Riyan Parag. Sanju Samson was traded last year to CSK in exchange for Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran.

Sanju, after spending more than a decade with RR, left the club abruptly due to alleged differences with the management.

Hence, for the Rajasthan Royals, this is a rebuilding phase. Riyan Parag has done well in his limited appearances as captain. But it will be interesting to see how he handles the leadership responsibilities while also giving his best as a batter.

At 24, it's easy to be carried away and collapse under pressure. But Parag’s mentality is a bit different, and that is exactly what RR is banking on.
