Australian allrounder Cameron Green questioned Usman Tariq's bowling action, accusing him of chucking during the second T20I between Australia and Pakistan. Green was one of the rare shining lights for Australia, managing 35 runs off just 20 deliveries.

However, as Usman Tariq got his prized scalp, Green questioned the legitimacy of his bowling action, accusing him of chucking through his gestures while walking back to the dugout.

The incident occurred during the eleventh over of the match when Cameron Green was battling a lone warrior's fight for Australia. In a bid to break the sixth wicket stand between him and Matthew Short, Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha introduced mystery spinner and one of his ace cards, Usman Tariq, into the attack.

Agha's tactical move paid rich dividends for the hosts, as Tariq dismissed Green on the fifth ball of his over. The right-arm spinner kept things tight and conceded only five runs off his first four deliveries. As Cameron Green decided to break the shackles and score some priceless runs off his over, Tariq deceived the Australian batter and sent him packing for 35.

However, Green was not convinced by Usman Tariq's bowling action, as he called it illegal through his gesture. While making his way back to the Australian dressing room, Green labelled Tariq a 'chucker', imitating his bowling action with a quirky smile.

The footage that showed Green expressing his dissatisfaction about Tariq's bowling action instantly grabbed the limelight and went viral on social media.

Is Usman Tariq's bowling action illegal?

Usman Tariq bowls with a short run-up and has a unique bowling action. Although Lasith Malinga, Matheesha Pathirana and Kedar Jadhav have bowled with similar slinging actions, Usman Tariq has drawn attention due to wrong reasons.

The right-arm spinner has repeatedly been reported of suspected bowling action. However, he has cleared the biomechanics tests multiple times. Recently, the ICC also acknowledged his bowling action as a legal one, allowing him to bowl in international cricket.

Therefore, although it seems like he bends his elbow beyond the permitted limit of 15 degrees, Usman Tariq is eligible to bowl at the T20 World Cup 2026, with the ICC allowing him to do so.

In two T20Is, Tariq has bagged six wickets, presenting himself as a potent spin option for Pakistan in the shortest format. He will be seen spearheading the Pakistani spin bowling attack alongside Abrar Ahmed in the upcoming T20 World Cup edition.

Pakistan secure historic series victory against Australia

Talking about the match, Pakistan sustained their dominance, swatting aside the Australians by 90 runs in the second T20I. After winning the toss and batting first, Pakistan posted a challenging total of 198 runs, riding on excellent fifties from Salman Ali Agha and Usman Khan.

In response, Australia suffered a batting collapse yet again in the series, being bowled out for 108 runs in 15.4 overs. Shadab Khan emerged as the wrecker-in-chief for Pakistan, scalping three crucial wickets for his side.
