Dasun Shanaka has been going through a purple patch in the ongoing MLC 2026, and he once again proved his all-round worth in a riveting clash between Seattle Orcas and Texas Super Kings. The Sri Lankan player kept hold of his nerves and produced a match-winning last over to seal the win for his team in a mouth-watering MLC 2026 match.

The Orcas all-rounder has been amongst the wicket-takers in the ongoing MLC 2026, and in the Super Kings vs Seattle Orcas game, he used his skill set to perfection as Shanaka scalped 4 wickets in 4 balls to stun the Texas side.

Orcas struggles with the bat

The Seattle Orcas batted first, and the team struggled to score runs on a not-so-easy surface to bat on. None of the batters got going as the top three were all dismissed for single-digit scores.

The entire top and middle-order batters failed to deliver the goods as the Orcas, at one stage, were looking at a score of less than 100. However, the lower-order batters chipped in a few big hits as the team somehow managed to score a paltry 121/9 in their 20 overs.

Cameron Gannon was their top-scorer with 20 runs in 21 balls, and he somehow managed to help the team post in excess of 120.

The target looked well within Texas Super Kings’ reach, but the wicket didn’t help their cause as its slowness allowed the Orcas bowlers to use the slower balls to perfection.

The game went down to the wire and the Super Kings needed 15 off 6, with five wickets in hand. Shanaka was given the task of defending the score, and he did more than that.

The first two balls of the over conceded 5 runs as the Texas franchise were cruising towards the win with 10 required off 4 deliveries and Donovan Ferreira on strike. However, this is when Shanaka turned the tables and produced a miraculous win.

On the third delivery of the over, the Orcas all-rounder cleaned up Ferreira, and he followed it up with the wicket of Calvin Savage. Adam Milne became his hat-trick victim, and Shanaka ended the day with his fourth wicket on the fourth ball to seal a magnificent comeback win.

Shanaka's dream run in MLC 2026

When MLC 2026 commenced, no one expected Shanaka to become one of the key players for the Orcas, but the Sri Lankan star has proven to be a genuine match-winner for the side, and the four balls, four wickets against Texas Super Kings is an example of it.

So far in eight MLC 2026 matches, the 34-year-old has scalped 11 wickets, with a strike rate of 11, and an economy rate of 10.33.

Not only with the ball, but the right-handed batter has also delivered with the bat, scoring 149 runs in seven games, with an astonishing strike rate of 196.05, and courtesy of him, the team sits second on the points tally, only behind MI New York.
