Mayank Yadav bowled only 3 overs in Ranchi T20I [Source: AFP]Team India lost the second T20I of the series to West Indies despite aggregating 249 runs upfront in Ranchi. Visiting skipper Shai Hope stormed his side to a record run chase by plundering 102* runs off just 45 balls as West Indies levelled the five-match series 1-1. It is worth noting that India’s best bowler of the evening, Mayank Yadav, was not employed to bowl even a single over after the end of the powerplay overs. The speedster bowled all three of his overs when the ball was new, and picked up three wickets in the process. Varun Aaron questions under-utilisation of Mayank YadavWhile speaking on Cricinfo, former India cricketer Varun Aaron indirectly questioned captain Shreyas Iyer over the under-utilisation of in-form fast bowler Mayank Yadav in the high-scoring India vs West Indies second T20I match in Ranchi.Aaron believes that Mayank should have bowled the 18th over of the West Indies innings, which was otherwise bowled by Arshdeep Singh who leaked 17 runs in it. The former speedster is of the opinion that Team India needed wickets at the time, and Mayank Yadav had already picked up three wickets in his opening spell itself.ALSO READGautam Gambhir Reveals Mayank Yadav's Success Mantra After Fiery Spell In IND vs WI 2nd T20IVarun Aaron said, “Mayank Yadav should’ve bowled that over Arshdeep bowled towards the end. Because when you’re getting wickets, and you have the pace to force a wicket, and that point India needed wickets. They didn’t really need to pull back the run-scoring. They needed to pull a rabbit out of the hat, and Mayank was amongst the wickets. He was bowling those brilliant deliveries.”The cricketer-turned-commentator added, “Mayank was that bowler who could have gotten them a wicket. But in hindsight, obviously everything looks very different.”Mayank Yadav's under-utilisation worked in the Windies' favourWhile it is difficult to second-guess a captain’s decisions in hindsight, Shreyas Iyer’s thought process behind holding Mayank Yadav back during the crucial stages of the run chase remains a subject of considerable intrigue.Opening the bowling for India, Mayank struck twice in the first over of the West Indies innings with the wickets of Kamil Pooran and Shimron Hetmyer, before knocking over Rovman Powell with a 149.5 kph thunderbolt in the final powerplay over. However, the cricketer was not brought back into the attack at any point throughout the remainder of the game. West Indies skipper Shai Hope, meanwhile, took the likes of Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel to the cleaners to bring the five-match series to levelling terms for the visitors.ALSO READMatt Renshaw Ends 9 Year Wait, Creates Multiple Records With Hundred In Durban Test
