India has produced countless cricketing stars, but 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi is on a whole new level of rare talent. The Bihar prodigy has already made a stunning IPL debut and even turned heads with under-19 heroics.
As the Indian side stepped into the big stage of the Under-19 World Cup, Suryavanshi’s failure in the first match sparked buzz. Former India cricketer WV Raman warned that Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s rapid rise could be slowed if he sticks to the usual path to international cricket.
WV Raman drops a major insight on Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s future
Indian cricket has seen the youngsters taking the center stage with their talent for a long time. But Bihar’s young batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s rise was exceptional. From securing an IPL contract at the age of 13, he scored 252 runs in his debut season, along with a hundred. He also carried on his fireworks even in the under-29 stage.
After the Under-19 Asia Cup heroics, he secured a place in the recently started Under-19 World Cup squad. As the young batter is up for bigger responsibilities, former Indian cricketer WV Raman made a massive comment on him. Raman stressed that sticking to the traditional path could actually slow down Suryavanshi’s meteoric rise.
“This could be an unpopular opinion. #Suryavanshi has performed extremely well in the A series and the IPL. Making him play at the U-19 level is likely to be detrimental to his growth. He may win matches no doubt, but it should always be about the big picture!” he wrote on his social media handle.
Rare slip for Vaibhav Suryavanshi at Under-19 World Cup
In the recently concluded Under-19 Asia Cup, Vaibhav Suryavanshi stunned the world with his heroics. While facing the UAE, he shattered the record book with an unreal 171-run innings as fans couldn’t believe their eyes. Throughout the tournament, the world remained in awe of his heroics.
Channeling his outstanding form into the Under-19 World Cup stage, he played a 96-run knock in just 50 balls in the warm-up match against the Scotland Under-19 side. But just when it seemed unstoppable, his rhythm unexpectedly faltered.
Facing the USA U-19 side, in their first Under-19 World Cup fixture, Suryavanshi faced heartbreak as he departed scoring only two runs. Even though India ended up winning the match, Suryavanshi’s rare slump grabbed the attention.
Could Vaibhav Suryavanshi be wearing India colors soon?
Since a very young age, he has grabbed the attention with his unreal brilliance in cricket. Channeling his inner fire across the stage, he stunned the world. Whether dazzling in his IPL debut or dominating domestic cricket, he’s consistently delivered unforgettable moments on the field.
Making his way into the India A side, he appeared in the Rising Star Asia Cup tournament. Amidst all the heroics, the biggest dream of wearing the India jersey is still a long way off. Many are already drawing comparisons to Sachin Tendulkar, who stunned the world with his international debut at a tender age.
Amidst all these, Vaibhav is just a budding cricketer who has a long way to go to shape his own game. With his skill, determination, and hunger, it’s only a matter of time before the world witnesses his rise on the big stage.
