In a historic move, an Indian side travel Nepal for unofficial T20Is later this year, as confirmed by Nepal Cricket Association. The two countries have always shared a brotherly relationship geopolitically, but now they are all set to strengthen their ties on the cricketing front.

Nepal have been one of the most improved teams in Asia in recent years. Thanks to their progress, they advanced to the recently concluded T20 World Cups in 2024 and 2026. However, they have also participated in the 2014 edition.

In 2024, the Nepalese team played one of the closest-fought games of their lives against South Africa, but unfortunately lost by just one run. Two years later, in India, they gave a neck-and-neck fight to the two-time champions, England, who eventually won by four runs, before going on to win their first-ever T20 World Cup match against Scotland at a packed Wankhede Stadium.

Nepal Confirms India A Visit For A T20 Series

On Friday, Nepal Cricket Association confirmed that India A will tour Nepal for three-match T20 Series at the TU International Cricket Ground, Kirtipur.

The much-awaited series will be held from December 9-13. Here is the full schedule.

  •  December 9 – 1st T20
  •  December 11 – 2nd T20
  •  December 13 – 3rd T20

The series was confirmed following a meeting held during the ICC Conference in Scotland between CAN President Chatur Bahadur Chand, CAN Secretary Paras Khadka, and BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia.

Nepal manifested India A tour, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

If manifesting is real, it is coming true for Nepal Cricket. Earlier in the year, a top BCCI official revealed that the Nepal board had contacted them to host the India A team. Moreover, at that time, it was linked to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who might be on the flight to Kathmandu.

As the Nepal fans are deeply connected with their cricket team, hosting an Indian side, with Sooryavanshi in it, will be massive for the growth of the sport in the upcoming Asian nation.

Having said that, India and Nepal’s senior men’s teams have met twice, both in 2023, once in the Asia Cup and then during the Asian Games.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's weakness getting exposed at the highest level

The 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was fast-tracked to the Indian setup after his surreal rise in the IPL 2026, where he blasted the best of the bowlers while playing for the Rajasthan Royals and taking them to Qualifier 2. He ended the season with 776 runs at an incredible strike rate of nearly 240.

However, Sooryavanshi is not having a great debut series for India in England. In his first three outings, the talented opener has accumulated just 42 runs, with a best score of 15.

Playing at the the international level for the first time, his weakness against short balls is being exposed by his IPL teammate, Jofra Archer.

Nevertheless, Sooryavanshi and India will next be seen on Saturday in the fifth and final T20I vs England at Southampton.
