Young Indian batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has set the IPL 2026 ablaze with scintillating performances. Sooryavanshi has formed a dynamic top-order with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel, emerging as a top contender for the prestigious Orange Cap.
Amid his batting exploits in the IPL 2026, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi inched closer to a historic international debut, as the BCCI included him in the 15-member India-A squad for the upcoming ODI Tri Series in Sri Lanka.
The 15-year-old has been the talk of the town for his fearless batting approach. In fact, millions of cricket fans and experts reckon that he is in line to become India's youngest ever debutant in the T20I series against Ireland, scheduled right after the IPL.
However, despite his name floating around for quite a while, the BCCI's latest move cast doubt on Sooryavanshi's anticipated debut in the India vs Ireland T20I series.
Sooryavanshi staked a claim for historic debut in India Vs Ireland T20Is
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been a phenomenal performer for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. Regarded as one of the fiercest and cleanest strikers of the ball, Sooryavanshi has amassed 440 runs in the ongoing season, presenting a strong case for his inclusion in the India T20I squad vs Ireland.
The defending champions will travel to Ireland for a two-match T20I series in June this year. If reports are to be believed, the BCCI selection committee will likely pick several fresh faces for the series against Ireland.

Considering Sooryavanshi's remarkable form in the IPL 2026, the batting prodigy was tipped to make his debut against the Irishmen. However, his India debut might be delayed further, as he will be committed to the Sri Lanka Tri Series until days prior to the India vs Ireland T20Is.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in India-A squad for SL tour; T20I debut in jeopardy?
The Indian men's team will travel to Ireland for a two-match series against the host nation in June. The highly anticipated series commences on June 26, only five days after the conclusion of the ODI Tri Series in Sri Lanka.
India's chances of qualifying for the Tri Series final are high, as they have a more formidable squad than their Sri Lankan and Afghan counterparts. If India-A enter the final, the players, including Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, will stay in the Island Nation until June 21.
The BCCI will likely pick the India squad vs Ireland at least 10-15 days prior to the series, which starts on June 26. The members of the team will likely travel to the European nation at least 5-6 days before the first T20I in order to acclimatise to the alien conditions ahead of the series.
Therefore, given that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will remain associated with the India-A squad, he might miss the flight to Ireland for the two-match series.
In such a scenario, the players, who are not a part of the India-A team for the Tri Series, might be selected in the India squad vs Ireland.
