One of Mumbai Indians’ key decision-makers parted ways with the franchise amid the IPL 2026 season. Led by Jasprit Bumrah, MI registered their fourth victory of the season, defeating Punjab Kings by six wickets.

Chasing a daunting target of 201 runs, MI lost the crucial wickets of Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma at a crucial juncture. However, Tilak Varma remained unbeaten and scored 75 runs off just 33 deliveries, guiding his side to a clinical triumph.

Hours after Mumbai Indians' emphatic win over Punjab Kings, one of their closest associates bid farewell to the five-time champion IPL franchise.

Robin Singh parts ways with Mumbai Indians

Former Indian cricketer Robin Singh bid adieu to the Mumbai Indians franchise a few hours after the team's glorious victory against PBKS in IPL 2026. He thanked the MI franchise and its passionate fan base for constant support throughout a 12-year-long journey.

"I’d like to share that I have officially parted ways with the Mumbai Indians. Although I have not been part of their IPL staff since 2022 , as of this year also with their team in the Emirates league. Thank you to the entire MI family and the fans for the support through this remarkable journey of mine since 2010 !!! Wishing the franchise Good luck in the years ahead," Robin Singh posted on X.

Robin Singh's Mumbai Indians stint at a glance

Robin Singh was an integral member of the MI coaching staff in all their title-winning campaigns.

Renowned for his all-round attributes and athletic fielding, Robin Singh became a part of the Mumbai Indians way back in 2010. He played a pivotal role in helping MI clinch IPL titles in five seasons- 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020.

He was a part of their support staff, headed by John Wright and Anil Kumble, in 2013, while also serving as the batting coach during 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020 IPL-winning campaigns.

Thus, the Indian great primarily served as the team's batting coach and mentor in the IPL from 2010 to 2022. After serving as the general manager of MI in the ILT20, Robin Singh was appointed as the head coach of the MI Emirates franchise.

Mumbai Indians derail Punjab Kings' playoff hopes

With Hardik Pandya still recovering from a back spasm, MI handed the leadership duties for the Punjab Kings game to Jasprit Bumrah

The decision proved to be a masterstroke, as the five-time champions not only added two crucial points to their tally but also pushed the Kings to the verge of an embarrassing group-stage elimination.

Despite remaining unbeaten in their first seven matches, Shreyas Iyer-led PBKS is staring at a premature exit from the tournament, having lost five consecutive group-stage matches.

MI, on the other hand, would be keen to sustain their winning streak and finish the season on a high note. The five-time IPL winners will cross swords against KKR in the 65th match of the tournament before taking on Rajasthan Royals in their final group-stage clash.
