This season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2026) has been a batting extravaganza, with players like Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Ishan Kishan at the epicentre.

The 15-year-old Sooryavanshi turned on the beast mode inside him, tonking bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Kagiso Rabada for fun. His wonders this season confirmed that the prodigal batter is not a one-season wonder.

Meanwhile, Ishan Kishan upped his game while leading the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) from the very front, in the absence of Cummins during the first half.

Bihar reason behind Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Ishan Kishan

Hailing from Bihar, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Ishan Kishan have a lot in common. Both are left-handed top-order batters who love taking on bowlers from the word go - a trait that reflects the aggressive brand associated with the state.

Although Bihar's Cricket Team has yet to reach the heights of the Indian ecosystem, the state has repeatedly proven its worth by nurturing world-class talent.

It is worth noting that India's most successful captain, MS Dhoni, is also a byproduct of Bihar. Although he has played all his cricket for Jharkhand, MSD was born when the state was a part of Bihar.

Indian billionaire backs Bihar to have IPL team

While speaking highly of the state of Bihar, renowned industrialist Anil Agarwal has asked for an IPL team from the state. The 72-year-old business tycoon, who is the founder of the Vedanta Resources Limited, is a Patna-born.

As per Agarwal, players like Sooryavanshi, Kishan and SRH's Sakib Hussain have set the stage on fire in the IPL 2026. Thus, these cricketers from Bihar should have an IPL team, providing world-class infrastructure for the state and inspiring the next generation of cricketers.

Anil Agarwal endorses Bihar IPL team like CSK, KKR, MI

"Don't you think Bihar deserves an unparalleled team of its own, just like Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, and Kolkata Knight Riders? The soil of Bihar has given the country many exceptional cricketers," the Indian billionaire businessman said while posting on his X account.

"Ishan Kishan, born in Patna, scored the fastest ODI double century in terms of balls faced. Vaibhav Suryavanshi from Samastipur became the youngest player to make an IPL debut. And today, the eyes of the entire world are on the brilliant bowling of Saqib Hussain, born into an ordinary family in Gopalganj," Anil Agarwal added.

Additionally, Bihar's newly appointed Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has also backed Anil Agarwal's idea.

"I completely agree with you," Bihar CM said on X. "For the cricket "emotion" of Bihar, the government is working in "mission" mode with a clear "vision." With your cooperation, a positive decision will certainly be taken regarding the Bihar cricket team."

IPL's increasing craze about Indian family-run firm

Recently, two of the existing IPL franchises, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Rajasthan Royals, were sold at path-breaking prices.

Interestingly, both the lucrative deals the acquired the two franchises had something in common: both involved two Indian billionaire families buying them.

The Aditya Birla Group, led by the consortium alongside Times of India Group, Blackstone, and Bolt Ventures, bought RCB for a whopping $1.78 billion ( ₹16,706 crore approx).

Meanwhile, the Lakshmi Mittal family and Adar Poonawalla procured RR for $1.65 billion (INR 15,660 crore approx).

Meanwhile, ahead of IPL 2022, the BCCI expanded the tournament from an eight-team affair to a 10-team affair, with Sanjiv Goenka purchasing the Lucknow Super Giants and Torrent Group & CVC Capital Partners partnering up for the Gujarat Titans.

Thus, if the BCCI plans to expand the league from 10 franchises, Bihar's very own Anil Agarwal could emerge as a potential buyer.
