Tamil Nadu cricketer Tushar Raheja just went berserk in the TNPL 2026 season. Leading the IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans team in match number 23 at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, the 25-year-old smeared five huge sixes in a single over against the Madurai Panthers. 

The explosive opening batter struck four of those sixes in succession off Panthers’ leg-spinner Rohan Bhutra on Thursday, August 20.

IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans captain and explosive opener Tushar Raheja launched five huge sixes in a single over of the innings against the Madurai Panthers in Chennai on August 20.

Taking on Panters’ spinner Rohan Bhutra in the fifth over of their run chase, the cricketer started off the over with a huge six. Bhutra responded back with a dot ball, before Raheja unleashed an extraordinary sequence of four successive maximums to finish the over.

Extracting 30 runs from the over, the IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans blazed from 36-2 to 66-2 at the end of the fifth over of the innings. Moreover, captain Tushar Raheja himself raced from 17* off nine to 47* off 15 deliveries in the space of just six balls. 

Unfortunately for the IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans, skipper Rahega managed to add just one more run to his total as he was caught-and-bowled by Shoaib Md Khan a couple of overs later in the innings for 48 off 17 balls. During his thunderous stay at the crease, the 25-year-old clattered seven sixes overall to get his side of to a flier in their chase of 158.

Who is Tushar Raheja?

Tushar Raheja plays for the Tamil Nadu cricket team in Indian domestic circuit. However, the explosive wicketkeeper-batter has so far played just six List A matches and nine T20 games since making his Tamil Nadu debut back in December 2024.

It is worth noting that even though Raheja is yet to make his first class debut and has only received a handful of playing opportunities for Tamil Nadu in white-ball competitions, the left-hander remains one of the most prolific batters in TNPL cricket. 

Just last year during the TNPL 2025 season, Raheja top scored in the tournament with 488 runs in just nine innings at a belligerent average of 61 and with an astonishing strike rate of 185.55. 

Even in the ongoing TNPL 2026 season for the IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans, Tushar Raheja has made 344 runs from six innings at a strike rate of nearly 200.

Tushar Raheja ambitions IPL debut

In an interview with Cricinfo last year, Raheja expressed his desire of landing an IPL contract with any one of the 10 franchises. Unfortunately, the cricketer is yet to be picked by any IPL franchise despite his proficient TNPL record.

Judging by his TNPL 2025 heroics and 2026 form, it may not be long when Raheja could finally get his much-awaited IPL opportunity. Moreover, one can assume that the uncapped Indian player might find a place in next year’s IPL 2027 season as he will likely enter yet another auction this time around.
