Travis Head speaks after century [Source: AFP]Australia’s firebrand opener Travis Head rained down an electrifying 112 off just 84 balls against Zimbabwe in the second ODI of their three-match series. The attacking left-hander launched 15 boundaries and three huge sixes in his innings at the Harare Sports Club in Harare. Slapping his eighth ODI century, Head also seemingly overcame his past demons of “chopping the ball onto his own stumps”. Interestingly, the cricketer was knocked over by Zimbabwe fast bowler Brad Evans in a similar manner earlier this week during the first ODI of the series.Addressing his struggles and the tendency of getting dismissed by dragging the ball down to his stumps, the 32-year-old recently reflected his batting mindset and revealed how he avoids such dismissals. Something you’re conscious of when you’re working on training and whatnot. So yeah, I move around the crease a little bit. But like when I’m batting, I’m not too worried about it. It’s just in that moment; I turn around pretty tongue-in-cheek and have a laugh with the boys up in the box.” Travis Head breaks Bangladesh, Zimbabwe curseEver since the conclusion of the IPL 2026 season in India back in May this year, Travis Head has been dismissed ‘chopping on to the stumps’ in four consecutive innings before he broke the curse with a thunderous century in Harare.Head’s unfortunate streak began at home during a two-match Test series against Bangladesh. The legendary opener aggregated just 61 runs at a dismal average of 20.33 in the series, and was clean bowled on all three occasions, each time dragging the ball to his own stumps against Bangladesh’s in-form fast bowlers.He was also knocked over by Brad Evans in a similar manner, before charting 112 off 84 balls in the second ODI only to be caught out by Ryan Burl off Wessly Madhevere's bowling.Travis Head roars back into formTravis Head has not been in the best of form off late for Australia.
