The ongoing Duleep Trophy 2026 final between East Zone and South Zone saw Mohammed Siraj and Tilak Varma getting into a verbal altercation with Ishan Kishan, who was hammering the South bowlers on September 7, 2026.
East Zone captain Ishan Kishan had won the toss and chosen to bat at the M Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai in the final. Openers Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Abhimanyu Easwaran gave a grand start to East Zone, adding 100 runs for the first wicket. Easwaran made 72 runs in 86 balls, while Sooryavanshi made 44 runs in a flying start.
Ishan Kishan continues hammering South Zone bowlers with a record score
After these two—Sooryavanshi and Easwaran—were dismissed, Shikhar Mohan (85) and captain Ishan Kishan decided to pile on more misery on South Zone bowlers on a batting beauty wicket at the Chepauk. Mohan fell short of a well-deserved century, but Kishan continued on to make history in the Duleep Trophy.
Kishan not only slammed a century, but he also went on to score a double hundred and finally retired hurt on 250 runs. During his knock, Kishan was severe on both spinners and pacers, and after lunch on day 2, he even faced a barrage of bouncers from Mohammed Siraj and copped some verbal sledging as well.

Siraj and Kishan went at it after the left-hander had crunched the India pacer for a few runs, batting aggressively. As Siraj and Kishan were engaged in a verbal altercation and were face to face, South Zone captain Tilak Varma also joined the melee and managed to calm the two players down after getting few words in himself.
However, it seemed that all the players involved were enjoying it and the moment was more of a friendly fire among these Indian teammates.

Ishan Kishan joins Elite list of batters in Duleep Trophy final
As East Zone increased its hold against South Zone in the Duleep Trophy 2026 final, Ishan Kishan broke several records by turning a dominant century into a historic double hundred. After scoring 250, the East Zone captain, who had started the day undefeated on 111, retired due to injury.
With his 250, Kishan became just the seventh batter to score 200 or more in a Duleep Trophy final, joining the ranks of Raman Lamba, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Cheteshwar Pujara, Anshuman Gaekwad, Yusuf Pathan, and Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi.
Because he surpassed Wriddhiman Saha's previous record of the highest individual score by an East Zone batsman in the final—170 in 2012—Kishan's innings is very important for East Zone.
Kishan broke a record for the highest score by a wicketkeeper in the Duleep Trophy summit clash, going past Dinesh Karthik’s 183 for South Zone in the 2010 final. As East Zone's captain and designated wicketkeeper, Kishan has also become the first captain-wicketkeeper to reach the landmark in a Duleep Trophy final.
Raman Lamba's 320 remains the highest score ever made in a Duleep final, followed by Jaiswal's 265 and Pujara's unbeaten 256.
East Zone going for the kill against South Zone
Apart from Ishan Kishan’s 250 with 27 fours and 7 sixes, Kumar Kushagra made 101 with 8 fours and 5 sixes, while Anukul Roy fell for 45 runs, as the East Zone have crossed the mark of 620 runs for the fall of 6 wickets, getting a huge score in their first innings.
Tripurana Vijay and Chama Milind have picked two wickets each and are the most successful bowlers for South Zone.
