Where is Vaibhav Sooryavanshi? This has been the question on everyone’s minds after the youngster was snubbed by the Indian team management from the playing XI Vs Ireland. The broadcasters were ready for Sooryavanshi’s debut; the Indian fans were geared up, but everyone was disappointed when the 15-year-old was made to warm the bench.

As a result, the team management, including the captain, Shreyas Iyer, and coach, Gautam Gambhir, faced the wrath. Sooryavanshi’s ideal debut should have been against the Irish side, where there would have been less pressure on the youngster.

However, he was nowhere to be found, and this became a hot topic when Shreyas Iyer, the Indian captain, stated that Sooryavanshi might have to wait a while to earn his India debut.

BJP Minister slams Gambhir, Iyer; vouched for Sooryavanshi's inclusion

After a disappointing Ireland tour, where India got humbled and Sooryavanshi was not given his India debut, Begusarai MP and the Minister of Textiles, Giriraj Singh, slammed Iyer and Gambhir for ignoring the 15-year-old star from Samastipur.

On June 29, the Minister criticised the Indian team management for not picking Sooryavanshi in the lineup despite legendary cricketers vouching for his inclusion in the team.

"When cricket legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, Yuvraj Singh, Brian Lara, and Graham Swann unanimously declare, “I would build the Indian team's batting around Vaibhav Suryavanshi,” it is not merely praise, but a global acknowledgment of an extraordinary talent.

The soil of Samastipur, the hard work of Begusarai, and the blessings of 1.4 billion Indians... Vaibhav Suryavanshi is ready to become the brightest face of the future of Indian and global cricket," Giriraj Singh tweeted.

The Indian team is set to play a white-ball series against England, with the first T20I taking place on Wednesday, July 1. Ahead of the fixture, Iyer, the Indian captain, attended the pre-game press conference, wherein he was asked about the viewpoints of politicians on Sooryavanshi, and their increasing demand to play the youngster against England.

Responding to the question, Iyer stated that he doesn't follow what's happening on the news channels or what's taking place on social media.

The Indian captain seemingly ducked the Vaibhav Sooryavanshi question and ignored the outside noise as he focuses on the England challenge.

Should Iyer play Sooryavsnshi in first T20I against England?

The Indian team is filled with a plethora of talent, but all eyes have been on the young player from Bihar, who has taken the game by storm with his explosive batting.

Sooryavanshi was the best batter in the IPL 2026, wherein he single-handedly dragged the Rajasthan Royals into the IPL playoffs and scored 776 runs, including a century. The left-handed batter swept away numerous IPL awards as the Indian selectors picked him in the senior squad.

In the Ireland series, Sanju Samson failed to deliver the goods, and in an ideal scenario, the Indian team management should hand the youngster his debut in place of Samson.

He had done well for the India Under-19 side when they toured England, and the Men in Blue should give him a chance to take international cricket by storm.
