Sanjiv Goenka Breaks Silence After Manchester Super Giants Lift 1st Hundred Title

The Hundred 2026 finally concluded with the Manchester Super Giants lifting their maiden trophy in the tournament on August 16 at Lord's Cricket Ground. 

The final was played between Manchester Super Giants and Trent Rockets, with the former winning the game by a dominant five-wicket margin. 

As the team lifted the trophy, its owner, Indian businessman Dr Sanjiv Goenka, opened up about his emotions and thoughts after the Super Giants franchise won its first title in cricket.

Congratulating the team on its success, Sanjiv Goenka took to his official social media handle on X to share his thoughts.

Goenka thanked players such as Tim Seifert and Noor Ahmad, as well as captain Jos Buttler, for helping the team reach the knockout stages and produce a phenomenal performance to claim their maiden title. He also thanked his supporters and all the fans who remained with the team throughout the tournament.

Sanjiv Goenka and his struggle for a maiden title for the Super Giants franchise

Sanjiv Goenka has always been a passionate sports lover who has invested in multiple sporting ventures, including cricket and football. 

In the Indian Premier League, Sanjiv Goenka owns the Lucknow Super Giants franchise, and he acquired the Manchester team with 70% stake from The Hundred this season, subsequently rebranding and renaming the team to bring it under the Super Giants umbrella.

He faced significant trolling and criticism over the Super Giants branding. However, it was Manchester Super Giants who dominated The Hundred and helped him achieve one of his most cherished dreams in the world of sports.

How Did Manchester Super Giants Dominate The Hundred 2026?

Manchester Super Giants started their campaign on a winning note, despite facing three scares during the tournament. Nevertheless, they managed to register five wins from their eight matches, ultimately collecting 20 points and securing their place in the Eliminator against Sunrisers Leeds. 

After defeating them, Manchester Super Giants advanced to the final, where they faced Trent Rockets, who had finished at the top of the table with six wins from eight matches.

In the final, Trent Rockets batted first and posted 158 runs for the loss of eight wickets from their 100 balls. Manchester Super Giants' opener Tim Seifert, alongside Leus du Plooy, then helped turn the chase into a convincing victory, scripting history for the Super Giants franchise.
