Pakistan brushed USA aside with relative ease in their Group A match of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The outcome also helped the Pakistan cricket team maintain its unbeaten run this tournament.
Here, we take a look at the entire highlights from the 12th match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 between Pakistan and USA, as it panned out at the SSC Cricket Stadium in Colombo on Tuesday, February 10.
Sahibzada and Shadab charge Pakistan to 190 despite Schalkwyk’s four-fer
Pakistan batted first and raced to 54 in the first five overs of the match. Opening batter Sahibzada Farhan led the early charge, while his younger partner Saim Ayub struggled to get going in his 17-ball 19. Ayub eventually mistimed one towards Saurabh Netravalkar at short third off Shadley van Schalkwyk in the final over of the powerplay. Captain Salman Agha at number three managed just a single from three balls before becoming Schalkwyk’s second victim of the evening.
Struggling at 56-2 in six overs, a well-set Sahibzada shared a counterattacking 81-run partnership for the third wicket with senior pro Babar Azam. Babar himself soared back into form with a brisk 46-run knock from just 32 balls. The attacking opener, on the other hand, top-scored in the innings by slapping 73 off 41 deliveries with six cracking boundaries and five huge sixes.
USA fought back with some late wickets, but a blistering 12-ball 30 from all-rounder Shadab Khan blazed Pakistan to a monumental 190-9 in 20 overs.
For USA, in-form fast bowler Shadley van Schalkwyk snared exceptional figures of 4-25 to pick his second successive four-fer of the tournament. Mohammad Mohsin also picked up a wicket at an expense of just 27 runs in his four overs. Saurabh Netravalkar and Harmeet Singh conceded over 40 runs each to claim two wickets between them.
Usman Tariq and Shadab Khan steamroll USA in Pakistan’s spin-fest
Chasing 191, USA started off with a fiery 42-run stand between Andries Gous and Shayan Jahangir. Pakistan spinner Mohammad Nawaz broke through for the ‘Men in Green’ with the wicket of Gous for a struggling 13, before fellow spinners derailed the USA chase.
Shayan Jahangir smeared 49 runs from 34 balls with five fours and two sixes, but lack of assistance from captain Monank Patel (3 off 10) increased USA’s asking rate in the middle overs. Milind Kumar at number four chipped in with 29 off 22, and Shubham Ranjane blasted a fighting 30-ball 51 before a slew of wickets towards the end restricted the USA to 158-8.
Controversial spinner Usman Tariq picked up three wickets in the innings to claim figures of 3-27 in his four overs. Shadab Khan also picked up two to cap a remarkable all-round performance for himself as Pakistan won the match by 32 runs.
