Rinku Singh and Priya Saroj are set to marry each other in June this year. The Team India cricketer and the Uttar Pradesh politician are reportedly aiming to avoid politics at the ceremony.
Several dates have been previously considered for their wedding, only for the occasion to face multiple delays courtesy of Rinku Singh’s hectic IPL and international commitments.
Wedding bells for Rinku Singh post IPL madness
Indian cricketer Rinku Singh and politician Priya Saroj recently released a series of photos from their pre-wedding couple photoshoot on their respective social media accounts. According to several reports, the couple have also set a June wedding in Kashi this year, i.e., after the conclusion of the IPL 2026 season.
The report further indicated that both Rinku Singh and Priya Saroj are aiming to keep politics out of their wedding ceremony. It is worth noting that Priya represents the Samajwadi Party and is the daughter of current MLA, Tufani Saroj.
One can assume that the couple wants to keep politics out of their wedding owing to a controversy that reportedly broke out during their engagement last year. Since Rinku Singh has associates that lean towards the rival BJP party, a certain report indicated that objections were raised between the two groups owing to their ideological differences.
Who is Priya Saroj?
Apart from being a prominent youth politician for the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh, Priya Saroj is also a lawyer and is currently a member of Parliament. She was born in Varanasi back in November 1998 to politician father Tufani Saroj.
As per reports, she and Rinku Singh first met each other via a mutual friend back in 2023 during a wedding in Delhi. The two eventually engaged on June 8 in 2025 last year in a lavish ceremony in Lucknow. The ceremony was attended by several political bigwigs and cricketers like Piyush Chawla, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Yash Dayal.
Rinku Singh’s cricketing commitments take a front seat
If past history is taken into account, Rinku Singh has always prioritized cricket over his love for Priya Saroj. As per reports, there were plans for the cricketer’s marriage with Priya back in November last year, and once again in February last month, before both dates were postponed.
With Rinku Singh refusing to compromise his cricketing commitments, the families of the two have finally decided a June wedding this year, i.e., a time when cricket calendar is relatively lighter.
As of now, the 28-year-old Indian batter is currently representing the national team in the ongoing 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. While the left-hander unleashed some match-winning cameos in the series against New Zealand last month, the cricketer recently failed to big against South Africa in the warm-up and against USA in India’s opening match of the showpiece event.
After the conclusion of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, Rinku Singh will be expected to join the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) franchise for the upcoming IPL 2026 season.
