Pakistan's star opener Sahibzada Farhan, who has been in red-hot form recently, has shrugged off the importance of the highly anticipated match against India on February 15. Farhan, whose 73-run knock powered the team to a second successive win against the USA, has expressed hope that the team will have a good game against India.

For the unaware, the cloud of uncertainty that loomed over the India vs Pakistan clash on February 15 has finally been cleared after a tripartite meeting between the ICC, PCB, and the BCB, where the Pakistan Cricket Board agreed to officially go ahead with the India match without any hindrance after an earlier boycott by the country’s government.

Sahibzada Farhan’s strong form becomes a wall of confidence

Sahibzada Farhan, who is set to feature in the upcoming clash, has been in good form recently in the T20 World Cup. He averages 60 runs from his two matches while striking at 166.67. Though he had a subpar Australia series, Farhan remains one of the favourites to score against India among the Pakistan batting lineup.

Even though during the 2021 T20 World Cup Pakistan was humbled by the Indian cricket team, they will start the February 15 encounter on a strong note after winning two out of two games in the T20 World Cup 2026.

Farhan shrugs off India match importance

Speaking about the nerves surrounding the game and how it affects players’ mentality in high-profile clashes like India vs Pakistan, Sahibzada Farhan shrugged off the India match as not a big deal.

“See, when you win two matches and are at the top of the table, you feel confident. The upcoming match is not such a big deal, we’re not playing against them for the first time. We’ve played before and this time we’ll play with a different mindset.

You’ve seen us in the shake-up. You must have seen our struggle in the middle. You must have seen that Shadaab is making run, Nawaz is scoring runs. So hopefully you will enjoy our game against them,” Farhan said after their win against the USA

‘Not a one-sided affair’: Farhan

Earlier during the Asia Cup, captain Suryakumar Yadav stated that contests against Pakistan have been one-sided and that there is no real competition, as India particularly dominates Pakistan in every matchup.

When Farhan was asked whether the game has really been one-sided, he cited the Asia Cup final and elaborated on how it has not truly been a one-sided affair.

“No, I think the way we played in the last Asia Cup, we didn’t play one-sided. We played and fought till the end . We didn’t play a one-sided match till then end and hopefully this time against we’ll play a wonderful game,” Farhan said.

Pakistan non-chalant on India affair

Moreover, Sahibzada Farhan expressed confidence in his form and recent red-hot streak heading into the India game.

“I think when you make runs you are confident. I am also very confident and the way the last two innings have gone, I’m very confident. It’s a normal match. We’ll play like a normal match. We won’t put it in our head that this is an India – Pakistan match, it is a normal match and we will play it like a normal match,” Sahibzada Farhan said.

Pakistan’s 2-in-2 continues against India in Colombo, as after the highly anticipated clash, they will face Namibia for their concluding group stage match against Namibia on February 18.
