MI's predicted playing XI Vs GT [Source: AP]
Five matches played, four losses suffered, and currently sitting at 9th spot in the points tally, the Mumbai Indians have endured a horror start to the IPL 2026 campaign. After beating KKR in their opening match, MI have suffered four back-to-back losses, and the team looks clueless at the moment.
The batting has clicked in bits and pieces, and the bowling has been toothless as the team now faces a stern test against the Gujarat Titans, who have done well in their recent IPL 2026 games.
The Mumbai Indians squad is filled with a plethora of world-class players, but none have stood up this season as the team continues to suffer. Rohit Sharma’s unfortunate injury has not helped their cause as the franchise now finds itself in a dire situation.
Ahead of the GT Vs MI IPL 2026 match, we take a look at Mumbai’s predicted playing XI, with a huge shakeup expected.
MI playing XI Vs GT, IPL 2026, match 30
Openers and top order: Ryan Rickelton, Quinton de Kock, Suryakumar Yadav
With Rohit Sharma still unfit, the South African pair of Quinton de Kock and Ryan Rickelton will continue to open the innings for the Mumbai Indians. Rickelton has done well in patches, and the franchise will expect him to deliver a fiery start against the Titans.
On the other hand, Quinton de Kock played his first game of the season against Punjab Kings, and he smacked his third hundred in the IPL.
The underfire Suryakumar Yadav will bat at 3, as the Indian T20I captain desperately needs runs under his belt, and batting at number 3 will provide him with enough deliveries to score crucial runs for his franchise.

Middle order and all-rounders: Naman Dhir, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, Sherfane Rutherford, Mayank Rawat
In the last IPL match against PBKS, Naman Dhir was promoted by the management, and he justified the move by scoring a crucial fifty and building a strong partnership alongside De Kock. Dhir, would once again play at 4, and he’ll be eager to continue his form against GT.
Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, and Sherfane Rutherford will be tasked with the finishing work. In the last match, MI’s finishing abilities cost them the game against Punjab, and the franchise would hope that the trio could weave their magic and finish games for the team.
Hardik Pandya’s form with the bat is a cause for worry, and he’ll need to step up with the bat if MI is to beat the Titans.
Bowlers: Mitch Santner, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah
In reality, Hardik Pandya should take a tough call and drop the out-of-form Jasprit Bumrah from the playing XI. He has five matches this season and has yet to take a single wicket. His bowling has been toothless, and on paper, he should be omitted from the team.
However, despite not being in form, Bumrah remains economical, and a world-class bowler like him needs just one wicket to get back amongst the wicket-takers.
Mitch Santner, and Shardul Thakur will be the other lead bowlers in the playing XI, with Ashwani Kumar coming in as an impact sub, replacing the struggling Deepak Chahar.
