India's star player Rishabh Pant has begun an important phase of preparation ahead of the IPL 2026 season by training closely with former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh. It is important to mention that this partnership comes at a key moment in Rishabh Pant’s career as he gears up to play for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the upcoming edition of the tournament.
Pant, who was retained by LSG for a record ₹27 crore ahead of the season, is determined to bounce back strongly after a challenging IPL 2025 campaign.
Reports and several pictures have gone viral online, suggesting that the 28-year-old has been working under Yuvraj Singh's mentorship in training sessions.
The IPL 2026 season will begin on March 28, and Pant’s training with Yuvraj Singh is seen as a strategic step to ensure he enters the tournament in top form.

During the recent training sessions, Yuvraj Singh has reportedly been guiding Rishabh Pant on several aspects of his game, particularly his batting approach and mental preparation.
Known for his fearless strokeplay during his career, Yuvraj has always admired Rishabh Pant's attacking style and believes the left-hander has the ability to become a star player.
The focus of these sessions has been on improving Pant’s shot selection, game awareness, and ability to handle pressure.
Yuvraj Singh's mentorship for young Indian stars
Yuvraj's mentorship is widely respected in Indian cricket. Over the years, the former all-rounder has helped several young players develop their confidence and skill sets.
He has earned a reputation as one of the most influential mentors for young Indian cricketers. Among the players he has guided closely is Shubman Gill, India’s current ODI and Test captain.

Rishabh Pant looking to bounce back after poor IPL 2025 season
Rishabh Pant enters the IPL 2026 season with a point to prove. In the 2025 edition, despite being the most expensive player in the tournament’s history at ₹27 crore, he struggled to make a significant impact with the bat.
He managed to score only 151 runs in 13 matches during the season, and the Lucknow Super Giants failed to qualify for the playoffs. The disappointing campaign also increased the pressure on him as both captain and the franchise's marquee player.
However, it is important to note that Pant has since fully recovered from a brief injury scare earlier in 2026 and has resumed full training.
His work with Yuvraj Singh is expected to help him regain confidence and rediscover the aggressive batting before IPL 2026.
Looking at his overall IPL stats over the years, Pant has played for two teams: Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants. He has played 125 matches and made 3553 runs at an average of 34.16 and a strike-rate of 147.61.
