The Super 8 round of the T20 World Cup 2026 is underway and has already reached an exciting stage. India, who are the co-hosts, suffered a shocking defeat against South Africa, marking their second loss in ICC events in the last two years.

The Men in Blue now fear facing an early exit from the tournament. Head coach Gautam Gambhir and skipper Suryakumar Yadav have been at the centre of heavy criticism, alongside the batting unit, which has been a total mess in this edition.

Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, and the captain himself are struggling for runs, and the pressure is there to do well and help India qualify for the semis. Besides the on-field struggles, a few have also pointed out the excessive travel by the Indian team during this tour, which has affected players’ physical health.
