Rajasthan Royals knocked KKR and Punjab Kings out of the playoffs race by advancing to the next stage of the IPL 2026 season. Mumbai Indians opener Rohit Sharma achieved a huge unwanted IPL record.

Rajasthan Royals become fourth team to qualify for playoffs

Rajasthan Royals crushed Mumbai Indians in match 69 to become the fourth and final team to qualify for the IPL 2026 playoffs. Jofra Archer won the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his three-wicket haul and a cracking cameo of 32 off 15 balls.

The outcome also knocked Punjab Kings and KKR out of the competition, and they will now take on the SRH in the Eliminator match of the tournament.

Rohit Sharma claims huge unwanted record in IPL

Mumbai Indians opener Rohit Sharma was dismissed for a four-ball duck by Rajasthan Royals fast bowler Jofra Archer in the penultimate league match of the IPL 2026 season. The former Mumbai Indians skipper has now levelled up with Glenn Maxwell to record the joint highest number of ducks in IPL history, with 19 ducks each. Rohit has registered 19 ducks in 276 IPL innings so far in his career.

Suryakumar Yadav scales huge Mumbai Indians landmark

Suryakumar Yadav scored a fighting 60 off 42 balls with three fours and four huge sixes against Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium in match number 69 of the IPL 2026 season. Through the course of his innings, the prolific middle-order batter also completed 4,000 IPL runs for the Mumbai Indians.

Suryakumar has now become only the second cricketer in the history of the franchise after Rohit Sharma to scale the landmark figure.

KL Rahul achieves major wicketkeeper-batter IPL record

KL Rahul slapped 60 runs off just 30 balls against the KKR in match number 70 of the IPL 2026 season at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The elegant opener launched five boundaries and four sixes in his scorching innings as the Delhi Capitals mounted 203-5 in 20 overs upfront.

The innings also marked his sixth fifty-plus score of the IPL 2026 season, thus making him only the first wicketkeeper-batter in IPL history to register more than five scores of fifty or more in a single edition of the tournament twice in his career.

Pollard hints Hardik Pandya’s captaincy future

Mumbai Indians batting coach Kieron Pollard has hinted that the team management will have a discussion before making any drastic changes, like a change in captaincy for instance, for next year’s IPL 2027 season.

Under the leadership of Hardik Pandya, the franchise recently finished ninth on the IPL 2026 points table with just four wins from 14 matches.
