The cricket is in full swing in both India and Pakistan. Both nations have their fair share of domestic cricket, with the Pakistan Super League and the Indian Super League taking place simultaneously. However, a recent incident in the CSK vs DC clash in IPL and Hyderabad Kingsmen vs Karachi Kings clash in the PSL found a strange parallel connection.
While retired out decisions are a rare scenario in general cricket, CSK’s Ayush Mhatre and Karachi Kings’ Saad Baig both fell prey to the humiliating decision on April 11.
Ayush Mhatre goes back despite 59 against DC
Mhatre has been a decent prospect for the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2026. Playing in the CSK vs DC clash, Mhatre scored a 36-ball 59 at a strike rate of 163.89.
However, he had to walk back on the third ball of the 18th over as the team management opted to retire him out to let Shivam Dube come in and club some deliveries in place of the young batting sensation.

Ayush Mhatre has had a decent campaign so far from his four innings, averaging 33.25 at a strike rate of 160.24. He scored a mammoth 43-ball 73 against the Punjab Kings and faltered against the RCB for just one run.
However, the limelight in the CSK vs DC match shifted when Dube, known for his powerful hitting in the lower middle order, was called in after Mhatre’s dismissal.
He slammed a 10-ball 20 at a strike rate of 200, hitting one six and two boundaries. This helped CSK push past the 210-run mark to set a total of 213 for the Delhi Capitals in the IPL match.
Saad Baig sees same fate as Ayush Mhatre in PSL 2026
Karachi Kings' young gun, the 19-year-old Saad Baig, also had a prolific Pakistan Super League 2026 tournament, where he averaged 29 but had a questionable strike rate of 126.09.
In the April 11 clash against Hyderabad Kingsmen, Saad Baig was striking at 143.24 before getting retired out at 53 runs. Baig's score was laced with six boundaries, with him not finding much success in the match.
Baig’s retired out backfires for Karachi in PSL
In place of Saad, Abbas Afridi was called in, who failed to make a mark by getting out for a duck. Hasan Ali also failed, scoring just one run.
It was captain Moeen Ali who scored a massive 16-ball 44 at a strike rate of 275 to help Karachi Kings reach 188 runs at the end of 20 overs.
Both these young guns, Ayush Mhatre and Saad Baig, were called out despite having decent strike rates and consistency. While Baig’s strike rate can still be questioned, Ayush Mhatre was well above the requirement that a batter needed during the match.
CSK and Karachi Kings on the points table
Nevertheless, both the CSK vs DC clash and Hyderabad Kingsmen vs Karachi Kings clash are underway with momentum on Baig and Mhatre’s teams’ side.
So far in the tournament, Karachi Kings stand fourth on the PSL points table with three wins from their four matches. However, CSK are currently struggling in IPL 2026, sitting at the bottom of the table after losing all three matches they have played so far.
