The Pakistan cricket team was eliminated from the T20 World Cup 2026, with Sri Lanka's narrow defeat paving the way for New Zealand to enter the semifinal

The cracking clash at the Pallekele Stadium was a run-fest, with players from both teams making the most of the conditions.

However, although the Men in Green managed a narrow victory, the BlackCaps qualified for the semifinal as the second team from Group 2 based on a superior Net Run Rate.

Dasun Shanaka's blazing fifty knocks Pakistan out of T20 World Cup

After winning the toss, Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka invited Pakistan to bat first on a flat deck at Pallekele International Stadium.

Riding on Sahibzada Farhan's scintillating century and Fakhar Zaman's fireworks, the Men in Green posted a mammoth total of 212 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs.

The Salman Ali Agha-led outfit needed to restrict Sri Lanka below 147 to surpass New Zealand's Net Run Rate and qualify for the semifinal.

However, Dasun Shanaka led from the front, powering the co-hosts to 207 runs at the end of 20 overs. Despite winning the contest, Pakistan missed out on the semifinals due to a lower NRR, marking their exit from the tournament.

Now, as the Salman Ali Agha-led side has crashed out of the competition, here's the Pakistan cricket team schedule after the T20 World Cup 2026.

Pakistan cricket team schedule after T20 World Cup exit

The Pakistan cricket team schedule after T20 World Cup will kick off with their tour to Bangladesh for three ODIs.

Recently, the BCB released the official schedule of the tour, revealing that all three matches will be played at the Sher-e-Bangla cricket stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka, on March 11, 13 and 15, respectively.

After that, the Pakistan cricket team is expected to host Zimbabwe for three ODIs and as many T20Is, although the series has yet to be made official. The Green shirts will further conduct a three-match ODI series against Australia on home soil in June.

The Pakistan cricket team schedule for July-August suggests that the Men in Green will travel to the West Indies for a two-match Test series, although the fixtures have yet to be announced.

In August-September, Pakistan will tour England for a three-match Test series. The tour commences with a high-voltage affair between the two teams at Headingley, Leeds, from August 19 to 23.

Meanwhile, the subsequent encounters will be played at Lord's and Edgbaston from August 27-31 and September 9-13, respectively.

The Pakistan cricket team schedule further hints at a possible Test series with Sri Lanka in November later this year. However, the PCB hasn't revealed the exact dates of those two matches on home soil.

Pakistan cricket could witness wholesale changes

Although the Men in Green secured four wins in seven T20 World Cup 2026 matches, their failure to qualify for the semifinal may result in a significant overhaul of their current leadership group.

While Salman Ali Agha is mulling over his captaincy stint, head coach Mike Hesson is on the firing line after some of his experiments proved detrimental to the team in the tournament.
