After receiving an IPL ban out of nowhere, Mustafizur Rahman decided to join Pakistan’s premier T20 tournament, PSL, to prove his actual worth. Shaheen Afridi-led Lahore Qalandars signed him for PSL 2026, as Bangladesh pacer received a contract worth PKR 6.44 crore.

Under the leadership of Shaheen Afridi, who has won a record 3 PSL titles as captain, Lahore Qalandars have won twice in three attempts in the ongoing edition of the Pakistan Super League.

Mustafizur played on all three occasions, and the Lahore-based franchise are delighted to have him in their squad.

Lahore Qalandars Owner Feels High Regards For Mustafizur Rahman

Match 11 of PSL 2026 was a rain-marred affair, which resulted in a 13-over game between Lahore Qalandars and Multan Sultans.

There, Lahore posted 185/5 after 13 overs, with Mohammad Naeem and another Bangladesh player, Parvez Hossain Emon, coupled with Pakistan’s Abdullah Shafique, chipping in with handy contributions.

Coming to chase, Multan gave a fiery start, racing to 48/2 after 5 overs. Shaheen then gave the ball to Mustafizur, and then, the Bangladesh pacer took the all-important wicket of Sahibzada Farhan, and conceded only five runs off his over.

The economical Mustafizur Rahman over set the tone for Lahore, and then eventually restricted Multan to 165/5, registering a comfortable 20-run victory.

Speaking after the Lahore versus Multan match, Lahore Qalandars owner Sameen Rana spoke highly about Mustafizur, saying it was him who built the momentum for others against Multan, and hence, they got the result they were looking for.

“Where is Fizz bhai? Your job was very difficult considering the situation of the game. I think you gave only five or six runs in the first over and that’s where the pressure started,” Lahore Qalandars owner Sameen Rana said, as quoted by BDCrictime.

Mustafizur Rahman's PSL Journey So Far

Thus far, Mustafizur has played three PSL 2026 matches and has picked up at least a wicket in all three matches. His debut match was against Hyderabad Kingsmen, in which he returned excellent figures of 4-0-19-1.

After that, he bowled brilliantly against Karachi Kings, ending with figures of 1/20 off his four overs.

Even though Mustafizur Rahman conceded five runs off his first over against Multan, he eventually finished with 2/37 after his three-over spell.

What Happened Between Mustafizur And KKR?

Earlier during the last IPL auction, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) signed Mustafizur Rahman for IPL 2026, giving him a contract worth INR 9.2 crore.

Unfortunately, due to the sudden crisis in geopolitical relationship between India and Bangladesh, the BCCI banned Mustafizur Rahman from playing in IPL. Therefore, KKR had to kick Mustafizur out of their squad.

Not to forget, after the Mustafizur saga, Bangladesh opted out of T20 World Cup 2026, hosted by India and Sri Lanka.

Later, the three-time IPL champions signed Zimbabwe's Blessing Muzarabani as a replacement for Mustafizur for the ongoing edition.
