In a heartbreaking development for CSK fans, they will have to wait a little longer to see MS Dhoni in action. Notably, in the latest update, the CSK veteran will miss the upcoming IPL 2026 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Notably, MS Dhoni has not played a solitary game in IPL 2026 due to side-strain injury. However, for the first time this season, the 44-year-old travelled with the Men in Yellow to Hyderabad, hinting that he might play.
MS Dhoni to Miss IPL 2026 Match vs SRH
However, in the latest update from Devendra Pandey, he stated that MS Dhoni is still not a part of the playing XI for CSK vs SRH. The report didn't mention the return date for Thala.
So far, MS Dhoni has missed first five matches of IPL 2026 and the wait is getting longer and longer, disappointing the fans.
MS Dhoni Close To 100% Fitness
Despite, MS Dhoni not playing SRH match, he is close to 100% fitness. Notably, as mentioned above, it was the first match in the ongoing season, where MS Dhoni travelled with the team. Therefore, he is expected in the dug-out.

Also, Chennai Super Kings posted several videos on their social media, focusing on Dhoni's practice sessions. The 44-year-old looked in great shape and was also spotted running comfortably without a limp. Therefore, it is quite shocking and amusing to see MS Dhoni not return to the playing XI.
Nonetheless, the fans were loyal and passionate as they gathered at the airport to welcome MS Dhoni in Hyderabad. The whole city turned the day into a festival to see a glimpse of their idol.
Notably, CSK will next lock horns against Mumbai Indians on April 23, which could be MS Dhoni's first match of the season.
CSK's Season In IPL 2026 Without MS Dhoni
Chennai Super Kings started IPL 2026 on a negative note as they lost first three matches. Ruturaj Gaikwad faced a lot of flak for his leadership skills. However, the Men in Yellow returned to form after they registerd a win over Delhi Capitals.

CSK have not been at their finest but the good part is that their lower middle-order has been brilliant. Sarfaraz Khan is among runs and is Shivam Dube. Therefore, it is tough for CSK to fit in Dhoni at this moment in the playing XI, a happy headache to say.
