In what seems to be surprising news for Pakistan fans, PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi has been advised to compensate the batter Sahibzada Farhan for his contributions in the T20 World Cup 2026. Notably, Mohsin Naqvi has been in the spotlight since he ordered a strict punishment for Pakistan players after the embarrassing exit.
In one of the rarest moves to punish the cricketers, Mohsin Naqvi slapped a fine of PKR 50 lakhs each on Pakistani cricketers who underperformed in the tournament. Naqvi’s orders drew divided reactions from the former Pakistani cricketers and the experts.
A few criticised the move, while others backed it as a ‘lesson’ for the players to work harder on improving their performances ahead of major international tournaments in the future.
Rashid Latif advises Mohsin Naqvi to compensate Sahibzada Farhan
Meanwhile, the former Pakistan captain, Rashid Latif, has put forward a completely different suggestion for PCB head Mohsin Naqvi. Latif’s suggestion came in the wake of the board's move to impose fines on players for the underwhelming run of form in the marquee international tournament.
Rashid Latif felt that Sahibzada Farhan should be compensated by the Mohsin Naqvi-led PCB for single-handedly leading Pakistan’s batting in the tournament.
“Take fines from the players who didn't perform and give that money to Sahibzada Farhan. He scored their quota of runs himself, around 400 runs. He did everyone's job alone,” Rashid Latif said on the Geo News’ show Haarna Mana Hai.
Sahibzada Farhan’s record-breaking campaign amid team’s miseries
In what could be a shocking stat for the Pakistani cricket fans, Sahibzada Farhan scored 38.33 % of the Pakistan cricket team’s total runs in the entire T20 World Cup 2026. Notably, Pakistan scored 999 runs in six innings, hitting 97 fours and 42 sixes.
Out of these runs, Farhan scored 383 runs in six innings at an average of 76.60 and a strike rate of 160.25, hitting two centuries and two half-centuries. He also smashed 37 fours and 18 sixes, which means Farhan accounted for 42.85% of the total sixes Pakistan hit in the tournament.
In his dream run of form with the bat, Sahibzada Farhan also surpassed the India batting great, Virat Kohli’s record of scoring the most runs in a single World T20 edition. Besides that, Farhan became the only batter to score two centuries in a single T20 World Cup edition.

Another ICC tourament, another humiliation for Pakistan
The T20 World Cup 2026 was the fourth consecutive ICC tournament in the white-ball format, in which Pakistan failed to reach the knockout stage. The Men in Green’s campaign started with a ‘struggling’ win against the Netherlands before they defeated the USA in the second match.
Later in the third match of their campaign, Salman Ali Agha’s men lost to the arch-rivals, India, by a massive margin of 61 runs. Furthermore, they defeated Namibia before winning only one game in the Super-8 game stage, and that too failed to secure a semi-final spot for them.
Pakistan have defeated only two Test-playing nations (Ireland and Sri Lanka) in their last World T20 campaigns in the 2024 and 2026.
