The duo appeared before the agency in Lahore on Thursday and were questioned for around two hours. According to sources from Geo News, investigators sought information about alleged dressing-room leaks and asked the players about their contacts and meetings during practice sessions and matches in England.Following the questioning, both cricketers requested additional time to submit their responses to the agency.Notably, Mohammad Rizwan was among seven players withdrawn on an emergency basis after Pakistan’s defeat in the Lord’s Test. The wicketkeeper-batter subsequently travelled from London to Islamabad after being left out of the squad.Before appearing before the NCCIA, Rizwan reportedly contacted the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The inquiry reportedly extends to data obtained from the mobile phones of the players involved.According to sources, the PCB had taken custody of the cricketers’ phones before they were handed over to the relevant authorities for examination. The exact reason behind the board’s decision to collect the devices, however, has not been officially explained.The investigation is understood to be focused on alleged information leaks connected to Pakistan’s dressing room during the team’s time in England. Investigators are also examining the players’ communications and interactions around practice sessions and matches.Meanwhile, sources have indicated that a third Pakistan cricketer has also received a notice from the agency, widening the scope of the inquiry.The PCB has so far declined to provide details, with board officials maintaining that the investigation is still in progress and that no comment will be made at this stage.Criminal investigation to hault Pakistan Stars’ comeback?For Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq, the immediate focus could now shift back to cricket, although the NCCIA inquiry is unlikely to disappear in the background. Both players have sought additional time to respond, meaning they could potentially be asked to appear again if investigators require further clarification or information.At the same time, the duo have a clear opportunity to answer the cricketing questions on the field. Rizwan and Imam are set to feature in the President’s Trophy Grade-I, which begins on September 12 and runs until October 28. Imam will lead OGDCL, while Rizwan has been appointed SNGPL’s vice-captain.Their domestic performances could therefore become an important part of their route back into Pakistan contention.
