For nearly two decades, Mumbai Indians have built a legacy defined by dominance, big-match temperament and a champion’s mindset in IPL cricket. With multiple titles and global recognition, Mumbai Indians have long stood as one of the league’s most successful and professionally run franchises.

But as the IPL ecosystem evolves, so do expectations. Today’s fans seek more than on-field victories. They crave connection, culture and more fan engagement. Recognising this shift, Mumbai Indians have unveiled a bold new initiative that extends their presence far beyond the boundary rope.

Ahead of IPL 2026, the franchise has launched The MIX (A Mumbai Indians Experience), a two-day cultural festival designed to bring supporters closer to the team than ever before. It signals a fresh chapter in Mumbai Indians’ journey from cricket powerhouse to lifestyle and cultural movement.

The MIX: A New Cultural Playground for Mumbai Indians’ #OneFamily

Mumbai Indians and BookMyShow Live’s BrandLabs have announced The MIX, a two-day experiential festival scheduled for March 21-22, 2026 at Jio World Garden, Mumbai. Co-produced and promoted by both organisations, the event reimagines how fans connect with the five-times IPL champions beyond cricket.

Designed as a multi-zone, high-energy cultural experience, The MIX brings together cricket, music, many brand collaborations, exclusive merchandise drops, food experiences and interactive fan zones. The festival invites a new generation into Mumbai Indians’ #OneFamily universe, blending sport, creativity and community under one roof.

Featuring global and homegrown music icons such as CamelPhat, Divine, Nucleya, Sanju Rathod and Mr. Belt & Wezol, the festival is expected to draw massive attention, with Mumbai Indians mainstays Rohit Sharma and captain Hardik Pandya also likely to be in attendance, adding star power and offering fans rare opportunities for closer engagement.

Mumbai Indians following RCB’s Blueprint?

The launch of The MIX also reflects a broader IPL trend where franchises invest in large-scale pre-season fan events. Notably, the current IPL champions RCB host their popular RCB Unbox celebration each year before the IPL begins at their home ground M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

RCB Unbox is an event typically featuring jersey launches, theme song reveals and interactions of RCB fans with players and legends like Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers, turning the stadium into a carnival-like celebration ahead of the tournament. The event has become a regular in the franchise’s fan engagement calendar.

While The MIX takes a broader cultural approach, its timing ahead of IPL 2026 suggests that Mumbai Indians are embracing a similar philosophy like that of RCB, strengthening emotional connections before the first ball is bowled and building anticipation through fan-first experiences.

IPL Franchises Redefine the Fan Experience

The evolution of events like The MIX highlights how IPL teams are no longer just sporting entities but entertainment brands. Franchises are increasingly building cultural ecosystems that extend beyond match days, tapping into music, fashion and youth identity.

As competition intensifies both on and off the field, fan engagement has become a strategic priority. With initiatives like The MIX, Mumbai Indians are signalling that the future of IPL fandom lies in interactive, community-driven experiences that make supporters feel part of something larger than the game itself.
