The India and England are playing against each other in the third and final ODI, with the series now level at 1-1. After India won the first match, England bounced back in the second ODI by winning the game by 4 wickets, making the Lord’s clash a winner-takes-all encounter.
Ahead of the third and final match, England fast bowler Jofra Archer made a strong statement about India’s batting lineup and about dismissing Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill early.

Speaking before the series decider, Jofra Archer made it clear that England's and his first priority is always removing India's top three as quickly as possible.
[On the importance of taking key wickets and his battle with Virat Kohli] Yeah, he's the key; it's stopping them from getting 300. You get him, you get Rohit, you get Shubman. The others will probably still take them to 300, but I think if you get them out, you significantly reduce the chances of it happening," Jofra Archer said.
Even though India have several quality middle-order players, Archer believes that dismissing Kohli, Rohit and Shubman Gill early gives England the best chance of controlling the match.

On the other hand, Rohit Sharma brings a different dimension to India's batting. Although his recent ODI numbers have been mixed, he remains one of the greatest opening batters in the history of the format.
A strong start from Rohit often allows India to dominate the powerplay and put the opposition under pressure.
Shubman Gill has emerged as India’s future in ODI cricket. As an opener and captain, he has consistently provided stability while scoring quickly.

Yes, Jofra Archer’s statement makes sense. India's batting unit is built around the foundation laid by Rohit and Gill at the top, followed by Virat Kohli’s experience in the middle overs.
If all three survive the new ball, India usually builds a platform for totals well beyond 300.
The opening ODI of the series also offered evidence of Archer’s point. Although Rohit and Kohli were dismissed cheaply, Gill held the innings together with an unbeaten 80 before the middle order completed the chase. In the second ODI, Virat Kohli responded with a fighting half-century.
