In an unexpected twist, the IPL 2026 game between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals was halted at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium due to a huge technical failure.

The game began when RR batted first and posted 225 runs on the board at the loss of 6 wickets. Captain Riyan Parag stole the show, scoring 90 off 50 balls, including 8 fours and 5 sixes.

Meanwhile, in the second innings, the Delhi Capitals were cruising in the chase. Openers KL Rahul and Pathum Nissanka knitted a 110-run opening partnership to take the momentum.

However, towards the death overs, a massive malfunction caused a brief delay in play. During the 17th over, a floodlight tower went off, and suddenly, the play was halted by the umpires. 

Thankfully, the technicians present on the ground fixed the issue, and after a few minutes, the game was back on. 

Meanwhile, RR’s stand-in captain Yashasvi Jaiswal used this delay to fix his strategy as the Royals had a hard time containing Delhi’s onslaught.

Riyan Parag redeemed himself

That being said, Riyan Parag had his moment of redemption during the RR vs DC game as he played a blazing knock of 90 off 50 balls. This knock couldn’t have come at a better time.

Parag, already struggling with poor form, landed in hot water for vaping inside the dressing room. He faced serious backlash on social media for being unprofessional and careless before the BCCI got involved.

BCCI reviewed the incident and found Parag guilty of breaching the IPL player code of conduct. As a result, Riyan Parag was fined 20% of his match fee and also charged with one demerit point.

Regardless, Parag left that disappointment behind and came out all guns blazing to prove himself in the RR vs DC game. His knock helped Rajasthan Royals post a huge total. However, RR couldn't defend it as Delhi Capitals won the game by 7 wickets by completing the chase in 19.2 overs.

However, the happiness didn’t last for Riyan Parag as he faced a serious injury scare during the second innings. The Rajasthan Royals captain exited the field in the 11th over and appeared visibly uncomfortable.

Initial signs suggested cramp, but there were fears it could be a hamstring issue. He received treatment on his leg and remained in the dugout with strapping, while Yashasvi Jaiswal stepped in to handle on-field captaincy duties.

While Riyan Parag continued to guide the team from the sidelines, the extent of his injury remains uncertain, something that could become a major concern for Rajasthan Royals as the tournament enters a crucial phase.
