The decision was taken during the recently held IPL Governing Council meeting.It was the 2023 IPL auction that last took place in India (in Kochi), and since then, Dubai, Jeddah, and Abu Dhabi have been picked as the venues for the IPL auctions, with teams spending huge chunk of money on quality players. However, this time, the board has decided to stage the event in India; but according to Cricbuzz, the mega auction could once again take place in an overseas venue.IPL franchises were reluctant to go overseas for mini auctionThe Cricbuzz report added that the IPL franchises were reluctant to go overseas for a mini auction, as they expressed reservations over logistical and operational challenges of sending their delegations abroad for the mini event.The BCCI strongly considered their opinion and have decided to conduct the event in India, with a venue yet to be decided.BCCI has not yet decided on the venue for the IPL 2027 auctionIn the latest development, the BCCI has given the green signal for the auction to take place in India, and the Governing Council has decided to explore an Indian city for the marquee event.However, the Council faces one huge challenge in finding a suitable venue for such a big event. The venue will be picked based on the availability of accommodation for the franchises and their delegations. Almost every year, the auction takes place in December, and the period between October and December is a wedding season in India.The choice of venue will also depend on the availability of hotels, especially considering the fact that the BCCI requires more than 100 rooms for a few days whenever it hosts an IPL auction.Final decision to be taken on Impact Player Rule in next IPL meetingThe Cricbuzz report also mentioned that no decision has been taken on the Impact Player Rule.
