A serious talent is in the works as the Chhattisgarh T20 2026 League saw a never-before-seen feat from the hands of Varun Singh Bhuie. The 21-year-old from Punjab has been a spin bowling prodigy for several years, with his skills on display for the India U19 team.
Varun Singh Bhuie bagged a rare double hat-trick for the Bilaspur Bulls, etching his name in CCPL history as the first-ever bowler to achieve this feat.
What is a Double Hat-Trick?
A double hat-trick is somewhat different from the common sense of a hat-trick. While in a hat-trick, three wickets are required in three consecutive deliveries to count it as one, in a double hat-trick, having four wickets in four consecutive deliveries is considered the feat.
This, although it seems better than a 6-wicket haul from six deliveries, is still pretty tough to achieve, especially in a fast-paced format like T20 cricket, where the batters get all the help most of the time.
Varun Singh Bhuie Magic Salvages A Game Back From The Dead
Often considered the next Harbhajan Singh, Varun Singh Bhuie produced a spell for the ages to bamboozle the Bastar Bisons. He took 5 wickets from his spell of 3 overs while giving only 16 runs.
With Bastar Bisons cruising at 204/3 and needing only 24 runs from the final 11 deliveries, Bhuie struck a decisive blow by dismissing the dangerous Rahul Pradhan on the second ball of the 19th over.
Pradhan, who had smashed 74 off 44 balls with three fours and five sixes, miscued a shot and was caught by Imtiyaj Khan.

The Rare Double Hat-Trick
On the very next delivery, Abdul Anas Khan was bowled for a golden duck. The fourth ball saw Dev Aditya Singh cleaned up first ball, and Bhue completed a hat-trick when Chetan Shrivas was trapped lbw without scoring on the fifth delivery.
In the space of four balls, Bhuie removed Rahul Pradhan, Abdul Anas Khan, Dev Aditya Singh and Chetan Shrivas, reducing Bastar from 204/3 to 204/7.
Earlier in the innings, Bhuie had already dismissed Anuj Tiwary for 28 off 17 balls in the sixth over, giving him five wickets overall and effectively a double hat-trick sequence across his spell.
Bilaspur Triumph Over Bamboozled Bisons
His heroics proved decisive in a match that had looked destined for a Bastar victory. Bilaspur Bulls had posted a daunting 227/3, powered by Aayush Pandey's magnificent 147 off 62 deliveries and Vikalp Tiwari's unbeaten 68.
In reply, Bastar stayed in the hunt thanks to Rahul Pradhan's 74 and Vijay Yadav's explosive 46 off just 15 balls. However, Bhue's unforgettable spell completely changed the momentum.
Just when Bastar appeared in control, the Col CK Nayudu Trophy top performer for the year 2024 triggered a collapse of seven wickets for one run, ensuring Bilaspur Bulls defended their total and secured a memorable win.
