The ongoing ACC Women’s Asia Cup 2026 saw India routing Pakistan in the group stage game in Dubai by 7 wickets. This result helped India all-rounder Deepti Sharma gain huge points in the latest update of the ICC Women’s Player Rankings on September 8, 2026.
India Women had defeated Pakistan in a one-sided game at the Dubai Cricket International Stadium in Dubai. Pakistan, after opting to bat first, was bowled out for 55 runs, despite the openers adding 27 runs for the first wicket. Indian bowlers had a field day, especially spinners.
Deepti Sharma rises to 6th spot in ICC Women’s T20I player rankings
India spinners Shree Charani and Prema Rawat picked three wickets for India against Pakistan, and Deepti Sharma took two scalps as well. Thanks to this performance and the overall eight-wicket haul in the first three games of the Women’s Asia Cups 2026, Deepti Sharma has moved to 6th spot in the ICC T20I rankings.
In December of last year, Deepti Sharma was the world's best bowler, but Shree Charani has now surpassed him. Between Shree Charani and Deepti are South Africa's Nonkululeko Mlaba and England's Sophie Ecclestone, Charlie Dean, and Lauren Bell; nonetheless, the difference between the No. 1 and No. 6 is only 70 points.
Deepti also passed Thailand’s Thipatcha. Putthawong to become the highest wicket-taker in Women's T20Is.

Deepti Sharma is the second-highest wicket-taker in the 2026 Women’s Asia Cup
After returning 3 for 0 in 1.1 overs against Thailand in the opening match of the competition for both teams, Deepti Sharma became the highest wicket-taker in Women’s T20Is. After that, she finished the group stage with 2/5 against Pakistan and 3/9 against Hong Kong and China.
Overall, Deepti Sharma’s 8 wickets in 3 games in the Women's Asia Cup at an economy of 1.90 and best bowling figures of 3/0. Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu is the highest wicket-taker in the ongoing tournament, with 9 scalps to her name. She made a record for best bowling figures in the Women's Asia Cup, taking 7 wickets for 5 runs against Indonesia, including a hat-trick.
India reaches the semi-final of the ACC Women’s Asia Cup 2026
Meanwhile, India remained unbeaten in the group stage of the ACC Women’s Asia Cup 2026 tournament. They first defeated Thailand by 94 runs after bowling them out for 65 in the chase of 159 runs.
Next India faced Hong Kong Women and scored 193/5 and bowled out the opposition for 56 runs, winning the game by 137 runs. Finally, India defeated archrivals Pakistan by 7 wickets and has qualified for the first semi-final of the Asia Cup tournament.
On the other hand, Pakistan women will clash with Sri Lanka women in the second semi-final on September 11 in Dubai for a chance to play in the final of the tournament. India will have to wait to see who they face in the semi-final, as one spot is still left.
Bangladesh women will clash with UAE women for that spot in the semi-final on September 8, 2026, in Dubai, with the victor taking on India women in the semis.
