India Player Openly Reveals Shivam Dube's Weakness To New Zealand Before The Final

Experienced India all-rounder Shivam Dube has had a tremendous T20 World Cup campaign this year. The left-hander, who played a key role in his team's triumphant run in 2024, has successfully outclassed himself this time around.

However, as the southpaw prepares for the India Vs New Zealand T20 World Cup final, former cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin has revealed his grey area to the opponents.

Shivam Dube, a vital cog for India Vs New Zealand

Led by Suryakumar Yadav, India are ready to take on the BlackCaps in a high-stakes T20 World Cup final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Shivam Dube is expected to play a crucial role for the Men in Blue, having showcased remarkable form with the bat throughout the tournament.

Statistically, Dube has been one of India's most successful batters in the competition, scoring 209 runs at an average of 34.83 and a strike rate of 159.54.

Although he used to bat in the lower middle-order, the Men in Blue have promoted him up the order, making the most of his spin-hitting prowess in the showpiece event.

Shivam Dube has been a menace for the spinners, especially the left-arm off-spinners. Given that Mitchell Santner and Rachin Ravindra will likely bowl their full quota of overs, India would be hoping for a heroic show from the left-handed batter to disrupt their lengths.

In such a scenario, the co-hosts would bank on Dube to not only neutralise the BlackCaps spinners but also complement their right-handers in the middle overs.

R Ashwin discloses Shivam Dube's weakness

While Dube continues to grab the limelight, courtesy of a breakthrough T20 World Cup campaign, former cricketer R. Ashwin has disclosed his weak zone ahead of the India Vs New Zealand final.

The cricketer-turned-analyst took to his official YouTube channel, analysing Dube's scoring pattern against spin bowling.

He reckoned that while the Indian team management could utilise the left-hander as a potent weapon to torment the Kiwi spin duo of Santner and Ravindra, the visitors could use Glenn Phillips and Cole McConchie to exploit Dube's limitations.

It's worth mentioning that Dube generally capitalises on scoring opportunities through the on-side, particularly from the mid-wicket to the cow corner region.

R Ashwin decoded that Shivam Dube rarely scores behind the square and hence advised New Zealand's right-arm off-spinners to keep the ball out of his hitting arc by wisely varying their lines and lengths.

Is Shivam Dube India's only spin-hitting option vs New Zealand?

Amid Suryakumar Yadav's persistent lean patch, Dube has emerged as the go-to man for the Men in Blue in the T20 World Cup. However, he's not the solitary designated spin-hitter in the Indian batting lineup.

Vice-captain Axar Patel can also take on spinners from the word go, while ace all-rounder Hardik Pandya's numbers against spin have improved leaps and bounds. So, even if Shivam Dube departs cheaply, Pandya and Axar can emerge as the saviours for the Suryakumar-led side in the high-stakes final.
