Pakistan cricketers Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq have landed in hot water. In a significant development in the phone confiscation saga, the PCB has collected their mobile data, and if strong evidence of discipline breach is found, then the duo is set to serve a ban or face a heavy fine.
A report from GeoNews mentioned that the PCB confiscated the cell phones of Mohammed Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq after the Lord’s Test, and the Mohsin Naqvi-led board is investigating the content as they fear big breach in code and conduct following which they were sent back to Pakistan.
PCB's Phone Confestication Starts Fresh Drama
Earlier, the reports suggested that the PCB took phones of some players of the squad currently in England for the three-match Test series. It sparked a widespread speculation of match-fixing. Taking players' phone in custody is not an usual sight in cricket.
In the latest events, the identities have been released and it is Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Rizwan. It all began with Imam's injury as the left-handed batter refused to bat despite a grade-one injury.
Pakistan suffered a 194 run defeat, following which Pakistan sent 7 players back home including Imam and Rizwan, who too had a poor series, amassing just 61 runs in 4 innings.
