List of all injured players before T20 WC [Source: AFP]
The T20 World Cup 2026 will commence on Saturday, and even before the start of the marquee event, numerous sides have suffered injury jolts as several players are out (either ruled out or injured). From India to South Africa, to Australia, all teams have suffered injuries that could affect their season.
Some players got injured during the warm-up matches, while others got injured in the previous T20I series they played. Here is a complete list of all players who have either been injured or ruled out of the World Cup recently.
List of players who have been injured before T20 World Cup 2026
| Players | Nation |
| Harshit Rana | India |
| Washington Sundar | India |
| Pat Cummins | Australia |
| Josh Hazlewood | Australia |
| Adam Zampa | Australia |
| Tim David | Australia |
| Nathan Ellis | Australia |
| Wanindu Hasaranga | Sri Lanka |
Players injured from India
- The team that has suffered the most before the T20 World Cup is Australia. The team currently has 5 main players who are either ruled out or are seriously injured before the marquee event.
- From India, two key players suffered serious injuries as Harshit Rana and Washington Sundar gave major blows to the Men in Blue. The Indian all-rounder suffered an acute onset of discomfort in his lower rib area while bowling in the first ODI against New Zealand, last month.
- There is no clearance on his return, but the Indian side is keeping their fingers crossed as the all-rounder is a key player for the Men in Blue.
- However, the biggest blow came in the form of Harshit Rana, the premium pacer. The fast bowler, on Friday, was ruled out of the T20 World Cup due to lateral joint line tenderness in his right knee. The pacer is likely to be operated as Mohammed Siraj is kept on the standby to replace the injured seamer.
Players injured from Australia
- Perhaps the 2021 T20 World Cup winners have suffered the most as five key players are either ruled out or are struggling to be match-fit before the tournament commences. The experienced pace duo of Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood were ruled out of the tournament after suffering from injuries.
- However, apart from them, there are three other star players who are now uncertain for the tournament. Tim David suffered a hamstring injury, and while he has been added to the squad, there is no confirmation on his participation.
- Apart from them, Adam Zampa and Nathan Ellis are also nursing injuries, and currently, Australia has only two fit pacers in the main team, and that is a cause of worry for the Kangaroos.
Players injured from Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka’s best weapon for home conditions, Wanindu Hasaranga, underwent a minor surgery for a torn hamstring, and is doubtful for the upcoming World Cup. Sri Lanka cricket has not ruled him out of the T20 World Cup yet, but there is a good chance that an official confirmation could come soon.
Which player will be missed the most
India will certainly miss Harshit Rana as the pacer offered a different dynamism and was the express pace bowler in the team who could terrorise anyone. Although no official replacement has been announced, whoever replaces Rana will have big shoes to fill.
Tim David’s injury is also a cause of worry as Australia lacks a solid finisher and without David, their batting and finishing ability looks thin on paper.
