“It feels good to see your students do well” - Jwala Singh about Yuvraj Samra

Jaiswal’s childhood coach, Jwala Singh, revealed the news of Yuvraj Samra’s visit to Mumbai later this week. He also shared the plans of young Canadian batter’s training sessions in Mumbai.

“After someone referred my name to him, Yuvraj took online sessions with me during Covid, and stayed in touch with me since then. I keep guiding him on his technique and mindset,” said Jwala Singh to Mumbai Mirror on Wednesday.

“He will come to train under me on February 21 (Canada were knocked out of the league stage of the tournament), and will be here for eight or nine days.”

“I plan to train at three or four places in Mumbai, including my academy at the Air India ground, and will also take him to the Oval Maidan at Churchgate to practice long-range hitting. He wanted to train under me before the World Cup but couldn’t,” he added later.

Jwala Singh also discussed the session when he trained Yuvraj for the first time. Singh also said that Samra’s game impressed him a lot during the first session.

He was anxious and felt Yuvraj needed to churn out a big knock to get noticed. He’s a very humble boy,” Jwala Singh said.

“Yuvraj’s best part is that he’s very calm at the crease. He doesn’t panic, and hits some really big shots, as you saw yesterday,” he concluded.
